Roof Mount Cargo Bag for a 2013 Toyota Prius with No Roof Rack

Question:

Just want to know if this carrier is suitable for travel from IL to NJ on a Toyota Prius 2013, which has no bars etc on top - nothing to attach the carrier to. Also, if yes to above, how easy or difficult is it to attach this rooftop securely to the car roof. Im a single and tired mom who can do with having to do less tugging/ pulling....basically I dont have muscle.

For your 2013 Toyota Prius I actually recommend Rightline Ace cargo bag # RL100A20. It is larger but costs less than bag # RL100S50 that you asked about. When properly installed the bag will work well on your long trip from Illinois to New Jersey.

The bag can be used on a naked roof but to do so you have to run the attachment straps through the interior of the vehicle. This can diminish head room and also the straps can sometimes act like a wick and let water soak the straps on the inside and drip. The solution to this is to use car clips # RL100600.

I also recommend using protective pad # RL100650 to not only protect the roof but to help keep the bag in place while driving.

Installation of the bag is easy. You don't need a lot of muscle to get it on the roof or secure it so I have confidence that you can do it with ease! Consult the vehicle owners manual and/or Toyota for the roof weight carrying capacity prior to loading.
