Bike Rack, Hitch and Roof Cargo Bag Recommendation for 2017 Mercedes GLC300
Question:
I have a 2017 Mercedes GLC300. It has the factory side roof rails, no hitch. I need to take one of my kids to college and will have a lot of stuff to carry. I am thinking about a cargo bag and possibly a single bike holder. This will be a 10 hour trip down the interstate. What are my options here? Price is a factor. The bag and rack would be full, one way and empty on the other.

Since you said price is a factor your best option will be a hitch, hitch bike rack, and then a cargo bag that can attach to a naked roof. There's no "cheap" way to accomplish all of it, but if you go with a roof rack, a roof bike rack and cargo bag it will cost more.
For a hitch the Curt part # C13290 is the best option. For a high-quality bike rack that does not break the bank the Hollywood Racks # HR200Z would be the best option. It'll be super stable for a 10-hour road trip. See test course video.
The Rightline cargo bag part # RL100A20 then would be a great option for the bag. It can fit on any style of vehicle roof including yours with rails and can carry up to 15 cubic feet of storage space.
