Surge-type actuator has a rustproof aluminum master cylinder and primed finish. Lockout keeps brakes from actuating when in reverse. Mount coupler attachments (sold separately) in 1 of 3 positions on channel. Welds onto a 50-degree A-frame trailer.
Features:
Specs:
When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the hydraulic actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward, once your tow vehicle starts to slow down. When this happens, the actuator contracts, applying force to its master cylinder. This in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage your trailer's brakes.
Electric Reverse Lockout
The electric reverse lockout on this trailer brake actuator is automatically activated when you shift your tow vehicle into reverse. The solenoid wires into your trailer connector - which connects to your tow vehicle - so that it can detect when you are in reverse. When your vehicle is in reverse, the solenoid ensures that the hydraulic actuator does not activate your trailer's brakes, thus allowing you to back up your rig. To use the lockout feature, you must have a 5-pole flat, 6-way round, or 7-pole trailer connector.
Adjustable Channel Design
The adjustable channel on this trailer brake actuator allows for ultimate versatility. Mount almost any type of coupler (sold separately) - from a standard ball coupler to a lunette ring or clevis attachment - to fit your specific application. In addition, the 3 mounting positions on the channel let you adjust the height of the coupler. Just place the coupler so that it matches the height of the ball mount or other hitch attachment on your tow vehicle and you will be able to tow your trailer levelly.

Today we're going to take a look at the Demco A-Frame Hydraulic Brake Actuator with the electric lockout. This is for disc brakes. It has a 20,000 pound weight capacity. Now, this hydraulic actuator will activate your trailer brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stops. The adjustable channel right here on the front of this brake actuator allow for ultimate versatility. Basically you can mount almost any type of coupler here from a standard ball coupler to a lunette ring or a clevis attachment to fit your application.
In addition, you can see the multiple holes here, so it'll give you 3 different mounting positions on the channel. It'll let you adjust the height of your coupler. Basically, just place your coupler right in here so it matches the height of your ball mount or other hitch attachment on your tow vehicle and you'll be able to tow the trailer level. On the very back here, you see underneath this protector here, there is an electric reverse lockout solenoid. Now, this will let you back up without actuating your trailer brakes. The solenoid will activate automatically when you shift into reverse.
Now, you do need to know that to use this lockout feature, you must have a 5-pole flat, 6-way round, or a 7-way trailer connector, and you'll notice there's 2 wires coming off the solenoid. They're both black wires. Those connections, one would go to a ground, the other would go to your reverse light circuit, and they're both black wires, so it doesn't matter which one goes to which. Now that solenoid is actually screwed into a nice heavy-duty aluminum master cylinder that's underneath here. It's very durable, rust-proof and efficient. It's built for high pressure applications and allows about 50% greater displacement than your standard master cylinders.
Now on the inside of this actuator, it uses an acetal copolymer lining to provide a nice, smooth operation as the actuator telescopes in and out. The breakaway, you can see right here, is included, has a snap hook right here on the safety cable to ensure a secure connection for the breakaway level. It's made of a durable steel construction, has a nice prime finish. It is a weld-on installation. This part is made in the USA, and you can see the application for this is a 50 degree A-frame trailer with hydraulic disc brakes. Again, the gross towing weight capacity is 20,000 pounds, maximum tongue weight capacity is 2,000 pounds.
This also goes by the model number of DA20. I do want to give you a couple of measurements. We're going to give you the channel width, right in here, that your coupler would mount into. It's going to be 3 inches wide, and the channel height, which will go from here to the very top is going to be right at 8 inches for the channel height. That should do it for the review on the Demco A-Frame Hydraulic Brake Actuator with the electric lockout for disc brakes and a 20,000 pound weight capacity.
