Randy: Hey guys, it's Randy here at etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at a replacement rung for the Stromberg Carlson RV Exterior Ladders. Generally you're going to see these in the back of motor homes, you're going to see them on the back of camper trailers. This is going to be how we access that roof light.Now, these are aluminum with plastic construction on the end, and that's going to be the way your ladder's constructed as well.Over time, if you're up and down that ladder quite a bit, these can wear. The ends will start to get a little bit loose and really any time you start to see that loosening up, you need to tighten it back up, and if it won't tighten up anymore, if you can't get it to be secure, it's just time for a replacement. You don't want to risk being out there, trying to climb up there getting close to the top and one of these giving out on you.This is a very quick and very easy replacement to do.

It can maintain your safety, get you back up to that safe level so you're able to get up and down there without any real issues.Now, overall this is an extruded aluminum rung. See, it's going to be this flat, shiny aluminum there on the bottom, and you can see it's got the groove in there on the top.Now just like all the steps, I'm going to see if I can get it the right angle, you see it's going to be hollow there, so you can see all the way through it. And it's designed so that with these caps off, we can turn it in there sideways just a little bit, get it aligned on this side and lower it down on the other sides where that'll be the main sides of our ladder or rung right down through there like that.Once we have it where we want it, we've got our black caps that are going to slide on the end. Good snug fit there on each side. And with the smaller screws, we're going to attach those to the aluminum.Now our longer screws, you'll notice these are self-tappers, so if we just want to add in a row, maybe that last step's a little bit too much, we don't like it and we want to put one in between all of our current rungs, that screw will drill its own hole.

And you see that's designed to go all the way through the middle section there, and you see as we turn it, where it comes out, that goes right through the rung. You can see it right there. That's going to go right through the rung, back into the extrusion there.So, really nice and secure. That's the way all the ladders are made, and they work really well. If you do go up and down quite a bit, if you always store stuff on top, they can get loose and we really do want to replace those.

We don't want to risk falling, we get out to our camp site trying to get stuff unloaded.Looks like we're going to be about 13 and a quarter inches from the end to the end, as far as from the end of our cap here to the end of our cap here. The holes themselves are one inch in diameter. See right here these are going to be one inch. Those are going to be spaced on about 11 and one-eighth inch center. So, even if you don't have a Stromberg Carlson ladder but you need a replacement rung, as long as these holes are an 11 and one-eighth inch center to center, and they're one inch in diameter, this would be a good replacement for that as well.Now, right now you can see it's really shiny still.

Over time with that aluminum you're going to see a little bit of that shine kind of fade down. It'll match a little bit better to what you currently have on the back. But all in all this is going to be a nice quick and easy replacement. We can throw this on our ladder and get that safety right back up to par. We're not going to have to worry about getting up there and one side of it breaking, coming down or anything like that.Now, as far as customer reviews, they say that it goes right on there really easily, it's a direct replacement and helps to restore that safety getting back up on top. Nobody wants to fall once you get up there. So, all in all it's just going to be a quick and easy way to get that taken care of..
