nice product, always good from etrailer

I've owned this bike rack for a year and would definitely buy it again. It's very light and quick and easy to install/take-off car. Construction is solid and holds bike well. I also bought the attachment that will hold the 2nd bike, when needed. It too is easy to add/take-off. Additionally, this rack is an exceptional value. However, I would have paid a few more dollars to have more of an integrated lock on the tire arm vs. the separate cable, which is the only suggested improvement I have. An integrated lock into the arm might not be as secure as the cable but it's quicker/easier and secure enough for those quick runs into a store before/after a ride.

by:

Super easy to put on and works like a dream. Ideal if you want to take another bike with you

I currently ride alone so I love this add on just in case.

  • Can RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Carry Two Electric Bikes on 2016 Ford Edge Titanium?
Yes! The RockyMounts MonoRail 2 # RKY10004 is a great rack for your electric bikes. I actually just installed one recently on a 2020 Jeep Cherokee which I attached a video review for below if you want to see how it looks on an SUV. With a capacity of 60 lbs per bike, this can carry your 55 lb bikes. Another great feature is the option to expand to three bikes with the # RKY10005 for when you want to upgrade. I haven't test fitted this rack on a Ford Edge yet, but one thing you should...

  • Is There A Hitch Bike Rack That Can Expand From One Bike To Three Bikes
You will be able to get a one bike hitch rack that can expand to a two bike option. There are two bike hitch rack options that can expand to either a three or four bike hitch rack. But there is not a one bike hitch rack that can expand from one bike to a three bike hitch rack. My recommendation would be to go with a two bike hitch rack and expand to three bikes when necessary. The RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount, part # RKY10004, and add the 1 Bike...

  • Bike Rack Similar to Yakima Holdup that is Expandable that Can Carry Fat Bikes
The closest option we have that would work with your fat tires and has same weight capacity is the RockyMounts MonoRail part # RKY10004 which can fit tires up to 5 inches in width and can be expanded to a 3 bike rack with the part # RKY10005. There isn't a way to expand it to a 4 bike rack which would be only thing you mentioned wanting. There isn't a similar bike rack that would cover absolutely all of the things you are wanting.

The 1 bike add-on for the Rola Convoy bike rack you are thinking of is no longer available, however, you can convert the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Bike Rack for 1 Bike - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # RKY10007 into a 2-bike rack with add-on kit # RKY10005. This setup fits 1-1/4" and 2" hitches; I attached a helpful demonstration video for you to check out.

  • Difference Between RockyMounts Monorail Bike Racks
The RockyMount Monorail listed as part # RKY10005 is actually an additional rail for the RockyMount Monorail 2 Bike Platform Rack, part # RKY10004. The addon, part # RKY10005 cannot be used on its own and must be installed onto the Monorail Rack, part # RKY10004.

  • Will the RockyMounts MonoRail # RKY10007 Work with a Front Hitch Receiver?
Yes! The RockyMounts MonoRail # RKY10007 will definitely work on a front hitch receiver. One thing you need to keep in mind, though, is bumper clearance. Depending on where your hitch installs on your vehicle, you need to make sure that the measurement from the center of the hitch pinhole to the outside face of the bumper is less than 6-3/4 inches long. This is because the distance from the center of the shank's pinhole on the MonoRail is 6-3/4 inches from the closest part of the rack (while...

  • Will the RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Carry 2 Electric Bikes Weighing 60-lbs Each
Yes, you can use the RockyMounts MonoRail2 Bike Platform Rack # RKY10004 and it would do a great job. The MonoRail has a 60-lbs per bike capacity, so it would work for both your electric bikes and your mountain bikes, and because it holds the bikes by the wheels you won't need to use a bike frame adapter bar. The MonoRail 2 comes with locks for the bikes and the rack to the hitch, so your investments are always protected, so it's a great choice all around. If you may need to expand the...

  • What is the Capacity of the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo When I Add the 1 Bike Add-On
You can add the 1 Bike Add-On for RockyMounts Monorail # RKY10005 to either the MonoRail # RKY10004 or MonoRail Solo # RKY10007 and increase the capacity of your rack by 60-lbs to 120-lbs; it will not lower the capacity of your existing rack. When loading your bikes, you'll want to make sure that you place the heaviest bike on the part of the carrier closest to the vehicle, so your 55-lbs E-bike will likely need to be the bike occupying that position.

  • Is the Kuat Transfer 1 Bike Add-On Easy to Install and Remove?
I have the perfect option for you, but to address your specific question the Kuat Transfer 1 Bike Add-On, # TSAOB, should not take you an hour to install, but it certainly wasn't designed for easy on/off use. There are a total of 7 allen head bolts and 2 spacers that hold the add-on to the main rack. The add-on comes with the necessary allen wrenches and all of the hardware, so you won't need anything else. If you are looking for a single bike rack with the easiest to install 2nd bike...

  • Can The RockyMounts SplitRail LS Be Used W/ Fat Bikes With 4 Wide Tires?
I went ahead and checked out your RockyMounts SplitRail LS, and unfortunately there is not going to be an adapter that will allow you to carry your new fat bikes with 4" wide tires. Instead, you are going to need to use a different bike rack that can accommodate the larger tires. • How to Carry 50 Pound Bike on 2004 Lincoln Town Car
For a 50 lb bike you will need a hitch bike rack on your 2004 Lincoln Town Car. For a hitch you can use the Curt # 13707. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver and a bolt-on installation. For a bike rack, I recommend the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Bike Rack # RKY10007. This is a platform style rack that uses a wheel mount and has a 60 lb capacity. The rack also comes with keyed-alike locks to keep your bike and rack secure. If you ever end up needing to carry an additional bike...

They are going to feature a lot of the same features with a few slight differences. First I will tell you what they both have, then point out the differences and provide you with my recommendation. Both of these racks have a 60 lb. per bike capacity, so they will be compatible with your 50 lb. bikes. They will both feature a tilting...

In regards to the Thule T2 Pro XTR 2-Bike Platform Rack part # TH83JV, you wouldn't be able to disassemble the rack to turn it into a single bike carrier. Of course you can choose to carry only one bike. Either the Kuat Tranfer 1 # KU64FR or the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo 1 # RKY10007 would handle the bikes you describe easily. Both would hold the bikes by the tires, so the fact that the rack won't come into contact with the frame will work well with your Carbon Fiber framed bike as well as the aluminum framed one. Either rack has sufficient room to handle your 45 inch wheelbase mountain bike as well as the 3 inch wide tires. Both racks offer raised shanks for tons of ground clearance,...
