Measuring for High Low Adapter to Flat Tow Vehicle Behind Motorhome
Question:
Hi- I recently bought a newer motorhome with a 30 high hitch reciever. My towed vehicle will be 15 inches tall. That leaves a differnence of 15inch off level. What do you reccomend?

The longest adapter we carry is the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter - 2" Hitches - 10-1/4" Rise/Drop - 10K GTW, 400 lbs TW # RM-048-10. I don't know if you measured from the top of the receiver opening, but this will get you 10-1/4 inches of drop from the center of the receiver tube opening. Your tow bar can have a 3 inch drop but anything further than that isn't safe due to road bumps.
Make sure you are measuring from the ground to the center of your hitch receiver and from the ground to the center attachment point of your base plates. You may need to have an adapter custom fabricated to get you into a safe range. I reached out to my contact at Roadmaster and talked with our install guys here and they haven't ever seen a 15 inch difference yet. I've attached an article to assist.
I do not recommend doubling up adapters as that will possibly cause a wobble or bending of your equipment.
