Video Transcript for Review of Lippert RV and Camper Bike Racks - Straight Shank - LC67HD

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Lippert straight shank for the Lippert Jack-It 2 bike rack. Now, the Jack-It 2 bike rack is a bike rack that'll install on the front of your A-frame trailer around the tongue jack. And it has an angled shaft that'll position the two bikes back towards the trailer. About 15 inches over the propane tanks.

Now, I did wanna pop up an insert to show you. There's the Jack-It bike rack with the angled shank that comes with it. Now, you can replace that angled shank on your Lippert Jack-It 2 bike rack using this straight shank if you prefer, if you don't want it going in the back that far. If you don't have the room and you need other clearance. Just to show you, here it is.

This is that same bike rack with this straight shank installed. You can see where the arrow points to the shank. This straight shank will set the bike carrier directly above your trailer's jack rather than the offset with that original angled shank. Now, the height on this, overall height is 11 1/2 inches. The longer tube dimension is 1 1/2 inch outer dimension.

The shorter tube is a 1 1/2 inch inner dimension. But that should do it for the review on the Lippert straight shank for the Lippert Jack-It 2 bike rack..

After waiting over 8 weeks to get this part (due to manufacture not etrailer) I was excited to get it. Unlike the Jackit bike rack, this part was a not at the same level of quality. The part looked like it was quickly manufactured, stuffed into a plastic bag and shipped out. The powered coating looked like it was done by a novice in a garage. Fingerprints were still on the part! The welds look good, but the finish was terrible. I ended up cleaning it and repainting it.
Oh, prior to me painting it, I tried to install it (no instruction on which why the part faced, thankfully etrailer has a video showing the correct orientation), but it did not fit! I ended up taking about 20mins using white grease to slowly get it to fit in the bike rack. Looked like is not made by same company (maybe it was sub'ed out?? But then this is what we get from the RV industry now.
Why 3 stars, does the part work, time will tell, any issues from Etrailer, not at all, they made the effort to keep me informed of the delays. Just the part was not at same level of quality as bike rack. I think Lippert should stick to frames and leave the bike racks to better suppliers like Thule.
hope this helps..

Its been a year, so how did it work out? No issues to report, the shank stays in the bike rack so no need to remove. Works as expected. Heck its a piece of metal : Use it on a GEO Pro 15TB, keeps the bike away from the trailer front cap. would buy it again if need.

@Frank Good deal! If you're leaving the rack more or less permanently in place, you'll want to make sure the mating surfaces of the # LC67HD have a thin coating of grease on them so they come apart if you ever want to remove the rack temporarily.

This product is much cheaper built than the rest of the bike rack, probably will not last very long!

by:

As others have said this item is not of the same quality as the original jackit bike rack components. The original is powder coated and has really clean full welds. This component is just painted so it doesn’t match the rest of the rack. The metal is thinner then the original components. And the welds are much less substantial. More spot welded. Does it work? Yes. Is the fit and finish substandard in my opinion? Also yes. At this point I’m going to remove the paint and fully weld the two pieces together for piece of mind and then repaint in flat black to at least match the color. The bottom was also bent and jagged.

by:

The fit was perfect, however the threads inside the adapter for the bolt to tighten to the jack it adapter were damaged or not properly made. Other than frustrating it was not a major problem due to the fact I happen to have a tap and die set, all is well now. Others may not find it as easily remedied.

by:

I question whether this is actually a Lippert component. I find it strange it does not have the Lippert Components label on itThe coating quality is very poor and obviously different than than that of the other components of the bike rack. The square tube used to connect the bike wings to the power tower is noticeably thinner than the offset connector that comes stock with the bike rack, making the fit very loose. The inner surface of the tube is also not smooth, so scratches up the component that fits insde it, opening the componenys up to moisture and rust. Overall very poor quality!

by:

Disappointing. Weld slag inside where tube is to slide that required grinding. The two tubes welded together are not perfectly aligned. And the biggest problem is that the tube will not slide into the base tube. I will have to do some major grinding to get it to fit together. Paint quality was OK

I reached out to the manufacturer who is advised that they will reach out to you directly.

by:

No hardware was sent. Bolts are a little to big from jack it 2. Had to basically rethread bolt to get it to work.

Oh no! I will have our Customer Service team reach out.

by:

Very poor quality. The paint job is pathetic. This piece will start rusting right away. The welds are lower quality than those on the Jack-It bike rack. The metal in the short piece of tubing is thinner walled than the rest of the bike rack. Without the "Straight Shank" I would not be able to make the Jack-It bike rack work for me. Lippert needs to find a better way to produce their "Straight Shank". etrailer.com was GREAT.

I recommend touching up the shank with a rust resistant paint like Rustoleum and keeping an eye on it over time.

by:

Not great quality. Wiggles a lot when fitted. Thinner than original Lippert brand. Planning on returning product.

by:

Could have a little more weld like the original. Will keep an eye on it.

by:

This allows the use of the Jack-it bike rack with the stromberg tray

by:

As I thought that it would be. Should work great.

by:

Delivery was very fast and product was as expected

by:

Fits good, nice and tight not loose at all.

by:

Great customer service and outstanding shipping
