Recommended Solar Panel System For A 2015 Lance Travel Trailer
Question:
Hello. My 2015 Lance came with a PD4045K Power center. I just purchased item # PD4060CSV replacement charger from etrailer because Ive upgraded to LiFePO batteries. I also have a Victron BMV-712. Now, Id like to purchase a solar kit. I only have room on the roof for 2 panels, so I assume a 200W system. What does etrailer recommend? Can I simply connect a solar kits output in parallel with my battery, or do I need another component? Thanks!

You'll have two options when it comes to a two panel system:
Option 1: Go Power Overlander Solar Charging System with Digital Solar Controller # GP39MR. These panels have a hard frame and would require you to drill into the roof of your trailer. They are 59-1/8" L x 26-5/16" W and provide up to 380 watts.
Option 2: Go Power Solar Flex Charging System with Digital Solar Controller # 34272628. These panels have a soft, flexible base to fit curved surfaces and can be glued to the roof instead of drilling into it. They are 44-5/8" L x 21-7/16" W and provide up to 220 watts.
I recommend measuring the open space you have on your trailer to determine which will fit. If you need to run cable into the interior of your trailer then I recommend using an entry plate # 34273840. There's also extra lengths of cable available available as well, I recommend figuring out where you're wanting to place them and measuring your way to the battery. If you're going to make any holes in your roof then make sure you pick up some self-leveling sealant # 34427034145-1 as well to ensure a waterproof seal.
Both of these systems will have a solar controller and will run from the solar controller directly to the battery. Your converter and battery monitor will not be affected by the solar panel systems.
