Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com and today we're gonna take a real brief look at this replacement urethane bumper for Demco fifth wheel hitches. This is going to replace the urethane bumper for your Demco fifth wheel hitch. And on your screen I am including the model numbers of the fifth wheel hitch from Demco that this is going to work with. But I do also want to point out that this is the direct replacement for the bumpers in fifth wheels made June, 2016 or later. And this is also going to work as a replacement for previous style bumpers used in hitches prior to June, 2016.
And on your screen you can see the model number of that previous style bumper that this will replace for your reference. And this bumper, as I'm sure you already know, cushions the back and forth motion of the hitch, and it helps reduce noise and road shock. You just simply install this bumper in the hitch prior to use. Now this bumper is directly from Demco, so you can trust that it's going to fit right in place of the original. You're not gonna have to worry about compatibility issues or anything like that.

Does what it's supposed to do. Recommend you use silicone gasket maker or two way tape to keep them in place

Fit my demco slider perfect. Didn't realize it was missing and just thought it was a pain to hook up. Now everything hooks up and lines up soooo much easier

This was a missing part of a Demco 5th wheel slider that made it very hard to hook up to the camper. The part I received fit like a glove and holds the head where it belongs. Now if this covid thing ever gets gone maybe I'll actually be able to use it before I'm to old to get around. Great service thanks

Don't know what to say. This bumper is thinner than original. Maybe that's why first one sheared off. If that's the case, demco should have done a recall and sent me one free. We'll see when we use hitch again.

The bumper fit lose in the the hole, I had to use silicone gasket sealer to hold it in the hole.

- Is a Capture Plate Needed to use Demco Hijacker With Trailair Flex Air on 2017 Ford F-250?I spoke with a representative of Demco who confirmed for me that you will need to use Demco Hijacker Autoslide Capture Plates # DM6171 along with the Demco Hijacker # DM8550024 fifth wheel hitch if you have a Trailair Flex Air such as # LC328492. The Hijacker Autoslide # DM8550024 is a confirmed fit for your 2017 Ford F-250 with the factory prep package; I've added a link to a video review of the hitch and capture plate for you to take a look at as well.

- How Many Urethane Bumpers are Used for Demco 5th Wheel HitchesThere should only be 1 Urethane Bumper # DM15469 under the head unit of your Demco 5th wheel hitch. There are 2 bumpers under the yoke that the head sits in though which I think is where the confusion comes in. I am attaching some photos that my contact at Demco sent me. The 5th wheel hitch in the photo is their Recon hitch but the bumpers apply to all of the Demco 5th wheel hitches.

- Troubleshooting a Demco Hijacker Autoslide Hitch That Is Making a Clunking NoiseTo me that looks like one of the urethane bumpers # DM15469, so you'll want to replace that first. This was most likely caused by wear and tear as the clunking I believe to be related to your capture plate needing to be adjusted. What you're going to need to do to fix it is, measure your pin box width, and ensure you have adjusted the plates evenly on both sides to 1/8” over the total width of the pin box. Bumper received works as original. It seems Demco designed this as a sacrificial part, as I am on my 3rd one in 2 years and 14k miles. They either shear off or break apart and fall out. Design flaw or designed to wear out? At least they are cheap. That’s why I order 3 at a time.
