Today we're going to be taking a look at the CE Smith coupler lift handle. This is a heavy duty handle that let's you safely and easily move your trailer around. It's designed to bolt on to your trailer's coupler. It's going to feature the rubber coated handle. It's going to provide a firm, comfortable grip. It's got the finger indentions right here, just allows for a nice easy grip design.
The actual construction of the handle is the zinc plated steel. It's very strong and long lasting. It's going to do a great job at resisting rusting corrosion. A few measurements to go over with you real quick. We're going to take a measurement of the overall length from edge to edge. That's going to give us a measurement of about 7-1/4 inches.
The overall height from very top to very bottom is going to measure about 4 inches. If we just measure the overall height from the top of the mount to the top of the handle, that's going to give us a measurement of about 3 inches. The handle portion, just measuring that coated area, that's going to measure about 4-1/2 inches long. If we take a measurement of the gap right here from the top of the mounting area to the bottom of the handle, that's going to give us a measurement of about 2-1/4 inches. You can see here that we have two different sets of holes. We're going to have larger holes and smaller holes.
The larger holes have a diameter of a half an inch. They're going to be separated on center apart from one another by about 3 inches. The smaller holes have a diameter of 3/8 of an inch, and they're separated on center by about 2-1/4 inches. That's going to do it for today's look at the CE Smith coupler lift handle.

The 3-inch bolt holes were a bit over 3 inches. Had to get out the Dremel and grind one of the bolt holes. This is a photo showing how the second bolt would not line up before grinding. Otherwise is fine.

Good news: it works fairly well once installed.
Bad news 1: It didn't match the holes on my trailer's tongue (Northern Tool aluminum 4') so I had to drill new ones.
Bad news 2: The rubber handle slips off when backing up the trailer. Need to glue it down.
Good news: didn't rust yet (a year later), but I sprayed it with Amsoil MP

I just had to return a bunch of these because myself and multiple customers reported that the grip is not properly glued and slipped off while maneuvering their trailers. This is very dangerous and could cause major damage or injury. I would recommend taking these off of your page as you have other options that are more reliable and higher quality (Dutton-Lainson and Fulton).

This handle is solid steel, not a hollow piece of pipe. It’s very heavy duty and the holes lined up perfectly. There’s is plenty of room between the handle and the tongue to get my big paw on it, even with gloves on. I ordered one for my snowmobile trailer too.

- Can The Coupler Lift Handle # CE32420 Be Fitted To Trailers Other Than a CE Smith Trailer? Yes, the CE Smith Coupler Lift Handle # CE32420 can be used on other trailers. The handle includes 2 sets of mounting holes for 3/8" or 1/2" hardware. If your trailer has a coupler that is attached to the frame using 1/2" bolts that are spread 3" on center or 3/8" by 2-1/4" on center this will be able to attach directly to the coupler bolts. Otherwise you will be able to drill holes in your tongue for either set of holes.

Its fine. If I dont pull the trailer too hard, the rubber handle doesnt slip off. Never bothered to glue it down.
