Hey everybody, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com where we're taking a quick look at the GSI Outdoors ESCAPE HS Collapsible Pot. This is gonna give you a really efficient and very space saving tool to have in your pack, so if you're a backpacker or if you're gonna be climbing a lot and you want to have a very minimalist kitchen this is a great way to do it. You can also use this if you're an Rver, or you're planning on using a camping stove. So it works really well for that. The HS comes from the heat-sink on the bottom. This is gonna be a much more efficient way to heat up whatever you have inside the pot.
It's going to hook into that camping stove to give you a nice stable base and it is made out of anodized aluminum. So it's going to absorb that heat really quickly, and spread it out amongst this surface, so that everything comes to a boil really fast for you. The sides are made of silicone. The lid is also made of an anodized aluminum. So that's where we get kind of the best of both worlds between that strength and durability for the top and bottom, but the sides can collapse to save us some space.
So let's take a closer look and talk a little bit more in detail about the specs here. The lid does latch on there with the two little handles that makes it easy for transport. Also, if you want to utilize the strainer, built into the lid, makes it nice. So if you're making anything like pasta or, maybe boiling some potatoes, or something like that. Most likely not going to be lugging the potatoes around with you, but whatever you might be wanting to drain water out of, you can do that there.
The lid does have this little handle. I would probably flip that up before you start cooking so that whenever you get going and the lid heats up you're not having to get your thumbnail under there to lift that off. The bottom, of our pan, is nonstick. It does have a Teflon coating and it is anodized aluminum, so it's going to be naturally scratch and abrasion resistant. That Teflon coating should also last you a long time and then keeps things from sticking, so you shouldn't have to worry about cleanup being an issue.
It collapses down, you just press it, and it pretty much collapses down like that, but you can stash some stuff inside here. Well, you're storing stuff. So this is one of the escape bowls. So similar design, and it fits right inside, so you can nest other pieces inside and get the most out of your storage space with that. Put the lid over the top. And again, just fasten it down with those little clips on either side. So really is a very space saving economical way to bring that pot with you. As far as the weight, it weighs just over a pound. And, as far as the measurements, whenever it's packed, get my ruler out here. So when it's packed, or collapsed down it's about two inches in depth. And then going from the edge of the handles is about 10 and a quarter inch long, roughly. Going side to side here, it's about eight and three quarter inches. Whenever we open it up, see if I can open this up without having to pull the lid up. Here we go. Still going to be the same width but the height now is about four and a half inches. Or, excuse me, about four and a quarter. So it's pretty much all there is to it for our quick look at the GSI Outdoors ESCAPE HS Collapsible Pot. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right one for you. We do have another version of this, that instead of being a two liter like this is actually a three liter. So if you need a little bit bigger you can go with that option, and we do also have the other ESCAPE accessories from GSI and all kinds of stuff for your outdoor kitchen, RVing, and more here at etrailer.com. So be sure to check it out, and thanks for watching..
