Was trying to find the appropriate hitch lock for my Thule Cargo Box. It turns out that this lock meant for Thule Bike Racks also fits the Thule Cargo Box Hitch perfectly.
We traveled for a month and never worried about our cargo box dropping off or being taken away.
Works for more than just Thule bike racks, highly recommend!

by:

I like the extra security for my bike rack. The lock is very easy to install on the bike rack.

by:

This kit had exactly what we needed to be able to lock our Thule bike rack in place. It arrived timely and included all parts and instructions we needed.

We’ve had this lock for a year now, and it still works perfectly

by:

After market but an upgrade from the original. The anti rattle and locking mechanisms are super helpful

by:

Added security for our bikes. Very plea sed!

I recently ordered a much needed replacement product from etrailer after having done business with them at least twice previously. They stock quality products and more importantly their products are priced competitively. Rather than buying a trailer hitch as an Automotive Company's OEM product, I got a much better value from etrailer. Since that time and recently when I needed a locking bolt for a bike rack, I again made a value purchase buying an "open box" product, last week. In my book, etrailer will continue to be a go-to value supplier.

Great

Ordered the Draw-Tite 24763 for my 2015 Honda Civic Sedan, and was very satisfied at the speed and detail of not only the correspondence and email between etrailer.com but also the shipping speed and condition of packaging. I received this in six days from start to finish of order. I did not spring for faster shipping and was satisfied with this type of time frame considering the size and weight of packaging. I also got the Thule Hitching Post TH934XTR four bike rack and THSTL2 hitch lock anti-rattle device. I had planned ahead by watching all of the great videos on etrailer and printed out some instructions from the site. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised with their attention to detail that this was unnecessary as they included a copy of the same instructions I printed in the box. The install went exactly like the instructions/videos said it would and if I hadn't been interested in getting the beauty plastic underbody piece back on I could have been done in fifteen minutes with a lift and another set of hands. All in all a very easy kit to install, and thanks to etrailer for the speed, quality, and including all the necessary hardware and instructions. 5/5 would definitely do business with again and recommend.

by:

This is a great product! I bought this product after I had my bikes stolen off my truck, while chained to the bike rack. The thieves simply undid the bolt and took it all. $300 rack, 4 bikes, and the chain. Gone. This product replaces the nut with a lock. It is easy to use and I feel secure knowing someone can’t just take it. The company was great. Quick shipping and answered all my questions.

by:

etrailer helped with replacing a lost set of a Thule bike rack locking system. The kit saved money instead of ordering each part separately. This was helpfully pointed out by Stacey. Everything works perfectly. Amazing customer service considering how big etrailer is with thousands of orders going out.

This bike rack is now used with a very fine Curt receiver hitch for my Mercedes SLK320 also purchased from eTrailer.

by:

This proprietary part has some weaknesses. Should the bolt head shear off, then the pin relies on a very slender cylinder that extends into the lock. That also could be sheared and, should that happen . . . not a very well thought out pin. But it is proprietary, so Thule will get their money.

I understand your concerns however we have not had any reports of that happening. The pin is uniquely threaded to the bike rack and stays as secure as any other hitch pin. You do want to make sure that it is tightened per the instructions received with the lock.

by:

Well built and sturdy rack. It was east to assemble and slid right into the hitch. I didn't know about the extra bar for womans bike so it was a hassle getting my wife's bike on the rack. I will be purchasing the adapter bar.

by:

Easy to install....etrailer corp. was fantastic with their advice and guidance. Product so much easier than roof mounted racks. Looking forward to extended use. Thanks for your help.

by:

This hitch lock is a must have if you have an expensive bike rack. This gives a piece-of-mind and save you the hassles of installing and uninstalling the bike rack. It is very easy to install.

by:

I bought hitch and bike rack and hitch lock , Excellent!

by:

Well made product. Easy to install except I had to remove the trailer electric connection to give the bolt enough room to go through on my '07 Explorer. Should do the trick, which is basically a deterrent. The price was excellent as well.

by:

Fantastic customer service. Item shipped same day and received very quickly. Very impressive!!!!!

I had recently purchased a Sportrack Crest 2 Locking bike rack for my 2014 Toyota Tacoma Dbl Cab. The anti seize bolt pin was not long enough for the included lock, to engage. It was almost a 1/2 inch short. I contacted Sportrack support, and was told that was the only bolt that was available for that model.

I was also told, they would bring it up at there next weekly meeting? I replied back to them with all my information of measuring my 2" hitch receiver inner and outer circumference, taking photos of the bolt pin installed, in hopes that Thule would help me find a resolve, as I was unable to use the Sportrack Hitch Lock, thus leaving my bike rack unsecured.

I got a reply back from Thule, again saying that they would bring it up at there next weekly meeting, and also said to me, that this product had been in production for 25 years or more, and it was highly doubtful, that the accessory was available. Really? How could I be the only one with this problem, surely others have run into this same problem, and I even read a couple reviews of that very fact.

A couple weeks later, no response or any support from Thule. So I decided to do my own research and try to find a resolve. Then I fould etrailer.com. I spoke with Theresa, and explained my problem. She and I went to work looking on there website to find a replacement or suitable anti seize threaded bolt pin, that had same overall dimensions, but just a longer length.

Much to my surprise, we found the bolt, and it was longer, and looked to be able to work. Oh and guess what! Its made by THULE!! Imagine that!!

Only problem was, the end of the bolt, had a different machine cut where the lock I had would engage, and it would be a gamble trying it, even though the price was reasonable.

We found the resolve, and saw that Thule did make not only that bolt, but also they made it in a complete locking version (THSTL2), that included a bolt, lock cylinder, master key, and reg set keys, and a Thule brand lock and a nice tool to tighten up the bolt once it was threaded into the receiver and into the hitch threads.

While it was more money, I was pretty sure this would work, in replacing the useless Sportrack anti-seize threaded hitch pin and lock, that came with my Sportrack Crest 2 Locking. It arrived, and took me all of less than 5 mins to open the package, insert the tumbler, test the keys, and install the threaded bolt, and lock it with the new lock. Now my rack is secured to the hitch.

I couldn't be happier with the support I received from etrailer, and no thanks to Sportrack/Thule customer support, that they left me in the dark, with a product that obviously had a compatibility issue with my vehicles receiver size. I give 5 stars for the support I received from etrailer.com, who took the time to assist me.

The THSTL2 after one year of use has held up great. I have had no problems using it to secure my Sportrak Crest 2 bike rack. It helps to give the tumbler a little shot of silicone lubricant, to key it working well. Alot of road grime gets into them, and they need to be cleaned out with a cleanerlubricant spray.

For reasons unknown, Thule manufactures
the TH958 Parkway bike rack to attach to a standard 2" hitch with a bolt that only goes halfway through the business end of the slinger. This lock unit also only threads halfway though and you affix the keyed end on the left hand side of the TH958. This works particularly well, if you are left handed. Why the TH958 was not tapped out throughout is problematic, because if it was, then you could place the lock on the left, or, if you are right-handed, on the right.

The THSTL2 does protect the slinger section from being taken. However, this leaves the pivot section and the arm assembly vulnerable. Both sections are are affixed with hex screws and bolts that can easily be removed with two crescent wrenches.

In order to remedy the situation forget the bolts and make the attachments with the hex screws and invest in a couple of stainless steel wingnuts. In order to make sure your unit will stay yours be best prepared to break down the rack and store it inside your vehicle. The wingnuts will make the chore easier.

At 44 bucks and change it is not worth it. Perhaps Thule will one day address these issues. In the meantime, caveat emptor.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review here Bill. The reason behind the shorter bolt is that all the bolt-in Thule hitch mounted carriers have a nut welded to the inside of the stinger portion that s into the receiver and this bolt only needs to pass through that nut to snug this up in the receiver. We found that with a longer bolt there is too much redundant tightening if the bolt were to pass all the way through, that is also why the STL2 bolt is not fully threaded. As for the locking features, these are intended to deter any theft or vandalism, as with all locks.

Lock bolted on very easily and locking mechanism assures me that my newly purchased Thule bike rack is secured to my hitch. Thule bike hitch lock made me feel more comfortable leaving the bike rack unattended. Thanks again to Wayne H. for superior service.

Kim and etrailers is great to work with, they know the products and get them to you fast!

by:

Good lock. When tightened down, it really locks the hitch and rack together. Driving down the road, I noticed no shake at all - even going over some low grade bumps. Of course you can use the bolt Thule furnishes to lock it down if you don't want the anti-theft protection.

I would have rated it "Excellent" except for the cost. Surely 50 bucks is overpriced! - BUT, it does the job

Both the rack and the lock are working quite well. The rack is a quality product and I enjoy using it.

As usual, etrailer.com had the best price, so I ordered the Thule lock for my girlfriend. They kept me informed all along the ordering process, and as usual, the lock arrived on time! They do a great job and I will continue using etrailer!

I have a hitch pin answer for you. If you are looking at the Thule Camber 4 # TH9056, even though the pinhole of this rack measures 1/2 inch in diameter, you will not be able to use your hitch pin that came from Acura. This is because the hitch pin that is designed to be used with the Camber 4 is threaded just like the Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device # THSTL2.
