Video Transcript for Curt 2 inch and 2-1/2 inch Hitch Lock Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at Curt's hitch lock for two-inch and two and a half-inch hitches. This hitch pin's going to be great for protecting your accessories. Most accessories don't come with locking pins and many don't even come with a pin at all. Well this way you can ensure that your gears going to stay safe and protected attached to your vehicle. The hitch pin attaches to the barrel style lock. It's a nice thick stainless steel, so it's going to be heavy duty and durable. Anybody that tries to take this off, is going to be spending way too much time out here that they're going to draw away too much attention and they're just going to hit the road.

On the end of the lock you have a watertight dust cap. This is going to keep out any moisture, dirt, and debris, ensuring a long lasting smooth operation of your lock.Once you insert your key, you can turn the key to unlock the barrel and it comes off. You'll see here on the inside that it has a rubber gasket that keeps any moisture, dirt and debris out of the inside of the tumbler as well, making it nice and smooth when putting it back on.With this particular style lock, you do have to unlock it first, then slide it on and then you can lock it again with the key. The hitch pin has a three and five-eighths inch span, which is going to be great for two and two and a half-inch hitches. This also includes your class three, four and class five hitches. When you're ready to install it, simply take the pin side, slide it through your hitch and whatever accessory you have in it.

Then you'll want to unlock the tumbler, slide it on and lock it down. You can finish by closing your dust cap. It's not only great for your accessories such as your cargo carriers and bike racks, but also for your ball mounts so you can keep those safe as well as your trailer that's attached to it.The pin comes with two keys for convenience. This way you can keep one with you and keep one at home for safekeeping. Many customers on our website compared Curt's hitch pin to Tow Ready's hitch pin and they both are three and a half-inch span hitch pins and they're both going to do pretty much the same job.One of the biggest differences though is that our Curt here is going to be stainless steel, so it's going to withstand the elements much better than just the chrome plated finish that the Tow Ready has.And that completes our look at Curt's hitch lock for two inch and two and a half-inch hitches.

Can’t speak for durability yet since I just received it but seems to be a quality product which I expect it to be. Fits perfect on a 2011 GMC 2500HD receiver hitch.

Still works great no problems at all.

by:

Could not get the hitch lock off. Had to use a crow bar & hammer. Then had to use a dremmel tool to modify stem at locking mechanism.

by:

Overall I am very pleased with my ETrailer experience. Everything was pretty straightforward and my products came within a reasonable timeframe. My only suggestion to ETrailer is maybe to package the expensive products in a outer box. The product that I ordered was on the pricy side of things and I came home to see my expensive product sitting infront of my driveway, open to anyone driving past it. A criminal or an opportunistic person who understood the value of that product would definitely pose a concern. Other than that, this is a fabulous online store.

by:

Does the job but the mechanism doesn’t feel that solid and it’s a little difficult to lock and unlick

by:

Very easy to use and the rubber cover most definitely keeps the moisture out of the locking mechanism.

by:

Best way to protect your hitch from the ft.

by:

Quality product.

by:

Product arrived quickly and works as advertised. Fits loosely for Ford F250 Receiver.

by:

The product did not fit the hitch it was recommended for. It only fit the receiver part and not where ball mounts to hitch.

by:

Extremely fast shipping and a real quality product.

by:

It's a great lock that seats perfectly.

by:

High quality product and works effortlessly. The stainless steel lock looks great attached to my trailer cover too!

by:

Always I am having a great experience. Never had a problem in any order in all these years. Super fast delivery, perfectly packaged and great communication. Thanks

by:

everything went together just like stat ed.

by:

Glad it is stainless steel. Easy to use and fits well in the hitch. Nice product.

by:

Very helpful customer service. Asked advice from the expert which was very helpful

by:

Do not purchase this product. I ordered it and it lasted maybe 4 months. I went to remove it to switch it out and it was corroded and wouldn’t unlock and beat it off with a hammer. Then I called etrailer to ask about a warranty or replacement and they informed me that they don’t have a warranty on this.

The key to prevent corrosion with aftermarket products are to lubricate them often and remove them when not in use. Here are some more tips about prevention:

by:

Just received / installed the lockable hitch pin... just what I expected... exactly as described. Happy so far with my purchase. If it stands up to our NE Pennsylvania Winter weather with the snow and salt used on the roads without rusting, I'll be absolutely thrilled!

Some rust and corrosion inside and out, difficulty unlocking it so I cleaned it and loaded it with lithium grease inside hoping to combat the moisture that gets in and causes the corrosion

by:

Seems good so far. Plenty of length and no rust yet. I would like to see Curt Mfg list a load or class limit somewhere. The reason I bought this one instead of the ones at Tractor Supply, Lowes, Northern Tool, etc... is that those all had a 10000 lb limit on the packaging. This has none. No posted limit means unlimited?

Hi John, according to our tech experts at Curt, this lock is rated for 20,000 lbs.

Love my new hitch for my 2019 Toyota Rav Adventure. At first, I didn’t think it would slide between bumper and exhaust system, but it did. My wife helped hold one side while a car jack was used to lift hitch into position. I used a rubber mallet to get into position to install bolts. About a half hour later, hitch installed! Only concern was when delivered, the box was split open and the hitch was sliding out. Thankfully, no damage, bump step and locking pin were still inside box and hitch bolts were taped inside receiver, otherwise they would have been long gone!

by:

Very well made, easy to install and quick delivery. Would not hesitate to use any of your products as needed.

by:

Had 3 items shipped to a fishery I was staying at on the Oregon coast. A bike rack, a bumper mount and a locking pin. The rack and the mount showed up as scheduled but the pin was lost in shipping. As it turns out the pin was not compatible with the Pro bike rack which I was told it was. I'm glad the other two pieces arrived and work fine and the pin is what got lost. etrailer is to refund the pin price and were very friendly about it.

by:

Sweet nice lock

by:

The product is just as described, but more importantly the customer service is outstanding. In an age where you can find the same products across multiple websites, etrailer stands above all with their great customer service. Follow through and helpful information makes etrailer a great resource not just another online vendor. For this reason I don't waste time web surfing and instead go right to etrailer every time.

  • Recommended Hitch Lock for a 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD
For a locking hitch pin that will fit the 2" trailer hitch you have on your 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock part # C23519. This lock has a span of 3-5/8" which should be more than enough for your hitch though you may want to take a quick measurement on the outside tube just to be sure. It has a stainless steel construction for corrosion resistance and it comes with two keys. I have attached a review video for you as well.

  • Stainless Steel Hitch Lock that Fits 2-1/2 inch Trailer Hitch
Since hitch pins don't typically carry the weight of a trailer they are not weight rated. Normally it's the tongue weight of the trailer that pins the ball mount to the hitch tube which keeps it in place and not the hitch pin. This is not stainless but we have the part # C23519 which is similar and is stainless.

  • Pin Comes Out Of Shank On BlackHawk 2 Tow Bar While In Stored Position
That is a very scary situation and I am glad you are okay! The replacement swivel ear or collar is part # RM-9200-8 for the BlackHawk 2 All Terrain tow bar part # RM-422 so it would not be the same as the Falcon. It sounds like to me that the hitch pin hole in the hitch on the motorhome has elongated over time. This can sometimes happen when the hitch is older. I recommend to stop using the standard pin and clip and use a locking hitch pin part # C23519 so the pin will stop popping out...

  • Recommended Hitch Pin Lock To Replace 5/8 Inch Pin And Clip
For your 2 inch receiver, I recommend the Blue Ox Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches # BX8858. This is a 5/8 inch pin with a chrome finish to resist rust and corrosion. It has a tubular style key for greater security and a dust cover to keep moisture and debris out. This is only for a 2 inch hitch. If you have a 2-1/2 inch hitch that is a class V, then I recommend the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock - Extra Long - Flush Design for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches # e98881. This is longer...

  • Hitch Extender Needed with Gross Weight Rating of at least 5,000 lbs for a 2 Hitch Receiver
If you are looking for a 2" receiver to 2" receiver extender rated for at least 5,000 lbs we have the Roadmaster Anti-Rattle Hitch Extender # RM-071-1075. This has a 7-3/4" extension with a 10,000 lb gross trailer weight rating and a 400 lb tongue weight rating. Keep in mind that using an extender like this will reduce the tongue weight of your trailer hitch by 50%. Because of this I recommend looking into using a ball mount that has an extended shank like the Brophy Ball Mount # BH20...

  • Locking Hitch Pin Recommendation for a 2015 Chevy Tahoe
Are you sure you need a span that large? Typically a 2 inch hitch like what you have wouldn't require nearly as much as that. For example the Curt hitch lock part # C23519 (which is an excellent choice for a hitch lock has a span of 3-5/8 inches and works well on 2-1/2 inch hitches which would be bigger than what you would have. I attached a review video for you to check out as well.

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock C23519 is Frozen and Will Not Unlock
There is likely some corrosion inside the lock that is preventing the mechanism from working properly. You can get some spray lubricant and spray it in the lock through the key hole and let it soak for 15 minutes and try again. If this does not work after several rounds then you will either need to have a locksmith unlock it or you may have to drill out the lock to get it off of the hitch.

  • Recommended Stainless Steel Locking Hitch Pin For 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch
One of the nicer locking hitch pins we offer is the Curt # C23519. This 5/8-inch diameter hitch pin will work with 2-inch and 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver tubes. It is made of stainless steel and also includes a waterproof cap to keep dust out. This hitch pin comes with 2 keys.

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock Recommendation for a 1997 Ford F-150
The trailer hitch lock # C23519 is designed to fit in a 5/8 inch diameter hitch pin hole found on a 2 " or 2-1/2" trailer hitch. The span or part that goes through the receiver and accessory is 3-5/8" inches long, overall it is 6 inches long so it is a fairly long lock. I personally like the flush mount type from etrailer, # e98880. The span is 2-5/8 inches so the 2 ends are flush with the receiver. This lock has a rubber cap on the lock end to protect it from the elements. I have included...

For your 2006 Toyota Tundra, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13180. This is a square tube design with a black powder coat finish over a protective base coat for superior rust resistance. This is a no drill installation. For your wiring, I recommend the 4 Pole Harness and Hardwire Kit - Includes Tester # C59496. This will give you a 4 way flat connection. • Does Locking Hitch Pin part # C23519 have a Weight Capacity
Hitch pins don't have weight capacities because they don't actually bear any of the trailer weight. The downward force of the tongue weight of the trailer is so great that the ball mount is pinned into the hitch so hard that none of the weight is put on the hitch pin.

The hitch I recommend for your 2022 Audi Q7 is the Curt # C13277. This American made hitch will be a pretty involved install, but once finished will have a clean, stock look as only the receiver tube will be able to be seen. So no ugly cross tube. This will also be great for carrying a cargo carrier, like the Curt # C18150, as it is rated up to 7,000 pounds towing and 700 pounds of tongue weight capacity (which is the one you will need to keep an eye on for a cargo carrier), but you will...
