Features:

  • Eliminates the "clanking" noise associated with hitch accessories
    • Small, anti-rattle nut insert fits inside the ball mount, bike rack or cargo carrier
    • Stainless steel threaded pin pulls the nut securely to the side of the receiver tube, reducing excess space between tube and ball mount
  • Protects the vehicle's powertrain by preventing the jerking motion that happens when starting and stopping while towing
  • Includes brass lock with rubber dust cover to block out debris

Specs:

  • Pin diameter: 5/8"
  • Inside width of lock: 3-1/2"
  • Compatibility: fits 2" ball mounts, bike racks and cargo carriers with a hollow shank

This hitch pin's unique design improves the towing experience by protecting the vehicle's powertrain and safely minimizing that annoying "clanking" sound. Engineered to fit 2" ball mounts, it features an anti-rattle nut enclosure that slides inside the ball mount. A 5/8" stainless steel threaded pin clinches the nut securely to the side of the receiver tube, reducing "wiggle room" between the tube and the ball mount. To prevent theft, the hitch pin includes a brass lock with a rubber dust cover to block out debris.

The insert piece fitted with a nut slides inside the ball mount or any other hitch accessory with a hollow shank. The pin clinches the nut securely to the side of the receiver tube to reduce excess slack between the tube and the ball mount.

Works exactly as described. Secures my Go Rhino bumper step, and keeps it from rattling. Only problem is I wish the bolt head was 3/4". Most socket sets don't go beyond 3/4", so you'll need a 7/8" box wrench or Cresent wrench to install/remove it.

Its still performing great. No rust and holding tight.

by:

Great product, NO MORE CLUNKING NOISE!!! Liked it so much I purchased another.

by:

Arrived quickly. Easy to install with the excellent video and instructions. I installed on my 2012 Forester with the Curt hitch I had previously purchased from etrailer. The locking hitch pin completely stopped my hitch rattle.

by:

Works great no rattle or rust. I recommend this item

It still works great. After one year I still recommend this product!

by:

This is my second purchase of this item. The first one worked great for years until I didn't secure the lock properly and it fell off!. No rattles, as secure as possible in today's world.

by:

What I like: Depending on the hitch and receiver you use, the hitch pin may do an excellent job in controlling sway : vertical and horizontal. What I am not entirely happy about: Depending on the hitch and receiver you use, the hitch pin may do an excellent job in controlling sway on the horizontal but not as much on the vertical. Also be careful about over tightening the bold to the anti-rattle assembly. It can twist the rubber stabilizing assembly a little bit. I think that may be the reason for the lack of vertical control. The problem is, my specific pin holes are a bit deep so I can't grab the assembly to line it up correctly. Also the lock sleeve maybe a little big for the pin hole so don't completely tighten the pin so you have a little wiggle room. However it is much better improvement over the standard pin with clip.

by:

Excellent product. And as always great customer service. I had to customize mine a little bit because of my specific application using an adapter to use 1in 1/4 accessory on a 2-inch hitch. I just had to shave a little plastic off of the nut holder.

by:

Great product, fit and finish. There is a trick to getting this little guy installed. Get the bolt near tight, where you still have play in the hitch. You need the play to get the silver shield on the top of the lock to enter the receiver so the lock can lock onto the pin. Once its locked onto the pin, tighten up the bolt and you are done. No wobble, nice and secure.

by:

Just bought a new Tacoma ... wanted one of these for when I have to hitch up a trailer ... haven't towed anything yet, but sure does keep my hitch cover tight! Was very easy to install ...

by:

Its awesome, works great and no more noise in camper receiver.

Still love it

by:

Exactly what I needed. Even though my receiver cargo carrier fits pretty well, there is an slight unavoidable wobble. This pin provides great security and the ability to tighten the tongue to the receiver hitch eliminating ANY wobble. Great device!

Still love it. It has withstood year round use and works perfectly.

by:

Works well!

by:

Works good when installed but it is a bit cumbersome to get the plastic retainer to stay in. The retainer doesn’t grab very well.

by:

Looks nice. Haven’t used it yet

by:

Very well madea and secure locking bolt. It will keep your hitch locked for sure. make sure you have extra room for that lock.

by:

Makes everything nice and rattle free!

by:

The lock is a great fit for my rack and feels good quality. It was easy to install as well and anti-rattle bolt works great!

by:

It fits as advertised, no more rattle when I pull my 22' boat.

It works so good I even forgot about it. No rattling, no noise, no movement. I love it.

by:

I wanted to wait to review this until I actually installed it in my bike hitch. I tried it on my 2013 Ford Truck and our 2013 Lexis. I was concerned in that the lock actually fit into the hitch hole and wanted to make sure that it did-- and yes, it did on both. Perhaps it is not important but I recommend that you install the lock before you tighten the bolt all the way. The lock has little tolerance for movement so if the bolt is a little off to one side, you might not be able to get the lock on. It’s all good however; you will only make this mistake once. It would be nice if the nut was more secure but I experienced no problem with it which most likely is why they did not do more to secure it. I had an idea that I would just weld a nut to the inside or the hitch and not have to deal with the black plastic holder until it occurred to me that the black device allows this to be self centering. A very good idea. My wife is the one who wanted the bike rack so I let her install it without any advice. She did various things wrong but figured it out. She did not push on the bolt hard enough to get it into the centering of the nut (another good design item) and she tightened the bolt before putting the lock on and it was off center just enough so the lock would not push into the hole. Once she loosened it a bit, it went right in and she retightened just fine. It secures the bike mount to the hitch very well. I would, and most likely will, buy it again. Good value I rate my wife a 5. Nothing else The video is priceless. Play it

Al, one smart fella there! And good marks for etrailer too.

by:

Great product, no rattle. etrailer shipped on time, great company to deal with.

by:

I know I am a bit OCD but the rattling before installing this hitch pin was really unnerving. The quiet hauling just adds confidence that everything is secure and I can focus on other things.

by:

This lock is a real quality item. I am looking forward to using it to secure my new bike hitch rack! My only complaint is with the shipping company who took my part all over the country before delivering it ten days later. I'm used to much faster service.

It has been great! I have had no problems with it not opening easily or becoming hard to lock. I would buy it again!

by:

This product keeps the receiver hitch tight and quiet. Easy to install and locks. Get one of these if you want to quiet down the receiver hitch or keep a Hitch-All or bike rack from moving around.

The Softride trailer hitchlock is still nice and snug. No issues. I have one for each vehicle.

by:

This fit my Alpha Tow bar and it tighten up very well. The lock and bolt are well made and the bolt had a lock washer for the bolt end. You could access the lock easily and I found that the lock should be added before doing the final tightening for the bolt.

5/25/2014

Still working fine, I did have to retighten once, but that is all. I will check on occasion to make sure it does not work loose. There is no slack or rattle when tight.

by:

This hitch lock was easy to install and works as advertised. No more rattle. It makes it slightly more difficult to connect the trailer chain hook but it's not a problem.

After a year this hitch lock has worked flawlessly. I have not even needed to tighten it up.

  • Softride Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock Should Work on Any Hitch
The Softride anti-rattle hitch lock, part # SR25219, is threaded to match the padlock portion of the lock. A nut placed inside the receiver opening aids in clamping whatever hollow accessory you are using to the side of the receiver opening. It should work on any hitch, including your factory installed Jeep hitch.

  • Recommendation for Anti Rattle Lock Softride or Lets Go Aero
I like the SoftRide part # SR25219 as it will be easier to keep the piece that inserts in the shank of the ball mount in place when it comes time to try and line the hitch pin up with it. It also has a ton of positive from our customers who have bought and used it so I know you will like it as well.

  • Recommended Anti Rattle Device for a 2 Inch Hitch
The Softride # SR25219 will be a good option for getting rid of the movement you are getting in your ball mount while towing. One of the big pluses with the # SR25219 is that it will lock in place to keep anyone from walking away with it. That being said, it does have one drawback. This style of anti rattle device has to be used in a ball mount that has a hollow shank. If your shank is solid, however, I do have another option available. The Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061 will work on...

  • Too Much Sway while Towing a Bike Rack and Using a Hitch Adapter
I am glad to hear the hitch installation went smoothly, but sorry to hear you are unhappy with the adapter. When using adapters, the play you are experiencing is a common problem. When using accessories in a trailer hitch, sometimes they are a perfect fit, sometimes they are a little loose and other times they are so tight that you must file the accessory down a bit. Because, there is not always a perfect fit, there are anti-rattle devices made. You may have noticed that your Yakima bike...

  • Why Does the Flash E Series Adjustable Ball Mount Rattle While Driving
The hitch balls on the Flash E Series Adjustable Ball Mount, # FA42-00-2800, will rattle somewhat in the ball mount when not towing. The rattle is due to the shank of the hitch ball being narrower than the mounting slot on the shank of the ball mount. While towing the rattle will be minimal because the weight on the hitch ball will push the hitch ball shank into the slot on the ball mount. If the rattle you are experiencing is at your trailer hitch receiver, then that can be easily remedied...

However, if you are using the HTAD adapter, the tongue weight capacity is reduced by 50 percent to 100 pounds.
