Video Transcript for etrailer Rubber 2" Hitch Cover Review

Hey, everybody, Ryan here at Etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the etrailer.com trailer hitch cover. So right off the bat, this is gonna work with the two inch by two inch hitches, like we have here today on our Jeep, just as an example, and there's also a smaller inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter version available. So if you've got the smaller size hitch, there will be a plug that fits that as well, but really a super simple part, and it's designed for a couple of different reasons. You know, one of 'em being to help keep dirt and junk from getting inside of the receiver tube here, help keep it in good shape, whether. You know, it's debatable how well that actually works, but in my opinion, it's definitely not gonna hurt anything as far as that goes.

So might extend the life of your hitch, especially if you use this, you know, when your hitch is new, like ours today, but more importantly, I think that this is mainly for the appearance. I think it makes it look a whole lot better and a lot more finished. So as opposed to just having that open tube there, you know, this pops in, (plastic smacking) and to me I like the looks of it, kind of gives it more of a clean appearance, and with this being made out of rubber, it can potentially kind of soften a blow too. You know, some hitches stick out past the bumper quite a bit, and if you we're to happen to kind of bump your leg or something while you're getting into your trunk or dropping your tailgate, not gonna hurt as bad. Like I said, this is made from rubber and one of the nice things about it is you don't need a pin and clip or tools or anything to use it.

You know, it's a press fit, and it's a tight fit at that. So that's all you gotta do to put it in there and pull it right out, and these seem to hold up pretty well. I can actually speak from personal experience. My father's had one of these for probably two and a half, three years now, and it hasn't dry rotted. You know, it still goes in there well and comes out just like it did when it was brand new, and he don't park in the garage either.

He lives on a country gravel road. So it's out in the sun all day getting beat up, and so it seems to hold up, at least so far. So can't really go wrong there. You know, there's a ton of different styles of hitch covers on the market, and this is probably one of the more simple ones. Probably gonna last longest in terms of it holding up, but in case you're looking for something a little bit different, you got kind of this style, which kind of doubles as a four-way flat trailer wiring holder as well.

So I just have this other cover on hand that would kind of plug in into there trailer wiring and be able to keep it stored, if you will, and the way these work is they go around your hitch share and then push in, which is pretty cool. You know, you kind of, you get that holder in there. My thought, though, with these, you know, it's nice that this can stay on there. You can plug your accessory in. You don't have to keep track of it or anything, but I don't really see that lasting too long to be quite frank with you because that part of the rubber is relatively thin. It's kind of a high wear area. I could eventually see this probably cracking and tearing and then, you know, you're kind of losing the function of that, but can't speak from personal experience. That's just my thought on it, and then if you're looking for some extra safety or a little extra lighting, you know, we have stuff like this too, which will illuminate, you know, when you're hitting your brakes and stuff. So that could go in with these. You know, a lot of 'em you're gonna need a pin and clip to keep it in place, but that push in there. You plug this part into your trailer wiring and you know, like I said, this will illuminate whenever you're applying your brakes. Other than that, at the end of the day, you know, there's really not a whole lot to it. It's gonna be a great way to help keep your hitch protected and look a little bit better whenever you're not using it.

Installation was fine with your directions, however, the 2017 Prius has different bumper/fender snap attachments than you showed on the video. Putting the bumper back into place took a little more attention than its removal to align everything together. Good product that fit as promised.

Works just fine on my 2" Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver, item #306-X7235I would highly recommend buying this item also.

This produce is working out great, it does the job. It covers my 2 hitch on my Honda Civic 2012.

Looks good. Fits in the receiver nice and snug so it shouldn’t fall out while driving. I am pleased with this purchase.

Perfect...Just perfect

by:

Rugged enough to transport our heavy e-bikes. Love the locking feature for a no worry adventure. And love the simple design that allows dirt to fall thru rather than get caught up on platforms or wheel cradles like other designs. I’d highly recommend this rack.

by:

This is my second etrailer hitch (first one is on my 2010 Ford Escape). This hitch fits perfectly on my 2023 RAV4 hybrid. The holes lined up exactly with the frame holes. No bad words were needed :) The install video was very helpful. Like some other reviewers, I did not need to lower the exhaust. I'm using it to carry a hitch hauler / basket and bike rack.

The hitch arrived in perfect condition, although the box was extremely damaged in shipping. Fortunately the bolt package was securely taped to the hitch frame so it did not fall out of the holes in the box.

by:

Delivery time great, missing a 30 amp fuse not acceptable. Joanne in customer service exceptional, because she gave me her direct call back number. I used that call back to discuss the missing fuse. The missing part arrived in 3 business days.

by:

This hitch cover works great. After a year, it is showing no signs of deterioration or deformities.

by:

First let me mention the service. The Hitch was super fast to arrive and the service was incredible. Second, the hitch itself is super quality couldn't be happier.

by:

Easy way to make the hitch look more finished whenever my bike rack is off.

by:

Great website to shop from. I’ve bought several things from etrailer.com and have been very pleased with the quality as well as the after sales service provided. I picked up an electrical harness for my fathers vehicle last year and it was so simple and easy to install. It still works perfectly and was happy to buy the parts needed for my own vehicles trailer hitch and wiring. I bought a nifty little trailer wire tester that plugs into the vehicle side to assure that all is as should be before hitting the road. Very pleased and happy to recommend to anyone in need of anything trailer related.

by:

Fits my e-trailer hitch perfectly

by:

Friendly and knowledgeable sales staff. I received my hitch in just a few days in good order. The box had a few holes due to shipping but that is expected. All parts were packaged securely and everything was there. Great quality product very sturdy with solid welds.

by:

Very happy with this hitch. Arrived in perfect condition. I took it to Uhaul to get it installed, and they were also happy with it. They said it was a perfect fit for my Sportage, and they installed it in double quick time, apparently. I use the hitch to carry my 2-bike rack and I've never had a problem. Very sturdy.

by:

This cover keeps the receiver socket clean and makes the appearance neater. My receiver occasionally hits my driveway and this cover has not been knocked out yet. Good product.

by:

It fits nicely in the hitch receiver.

by:

Package arrived in a timely fashion and the instructions were very easy.

by:

After using for a year, the hitch cover still remains in place, is easy to install and remove, and still keeps the receiver clean.

by:

Great product and fast delivery! Fits like a glove to my new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek. To use with a KUAT bike rack.

by:

Everything was perfect. All items shipped and arrived when stated. The video for installation was perfect.
Thank you.

by:

Installation was made super easy

by:

Perfect fit for our 2023 Honda Pilot. Hitch arrived in 2 days in perfect condition. Easy install. This is our third etrailer hitch.

by:

The items I ordered will allow me to adapt my utility trailer for transporting my sea kayaks. Curt and Hopkins are both quality manufacturers.
On a shipping note, the box arrived at the Post Office broken wide open. Your shipping folks need to wrap small, heavy, items in bubble wrap. Then stabilize it with foam peanuts. Just putting it in a box then stuffing the box with craft paper does not cut it. Items were not damaged so I am good to go.

by:

semi hard rubber makes this cover fit nice and snug in the hitch receiver so that it will not fall out.

by:

Pleasure to deal with, expedited shipping and was very informative with me drilling down what parts I needed for my 2024 RAV4. Only thing to mention, box was received with 5 holes torn in shipping. How all parts made it I’ll never know! Will be buying flat blk spay paint for repairing the bare metal.

Yes, the Curt # C31083 Front Mount Hitch is a confirmed fit for your 2021 Ford F-150 truck. The adapter T4846000 or lack thereof would not have damaged the actuator. Normally the adapter is installed mostly out of the weather but it's basically waterproof so just use best judgment. Inside the adapter is basically a magnet that simulates the amperage draw of electric brakes so that your brake controller can sense a trailer connection.

  • Why Does My 1965 Boat Trailer Still Leak Grease After Replacing the Grease Seals
It could be a few things, but it sounds like it could be a grease seal failure. Even though these are all new components, failures can still happen. I would then also check the spindle itself where the grease seal rides, and make sure there is no damage to the seal.
