Video Transcript for Hollywood Racks Threaded Hitch Lock Review

Today, we have the Hollywood Racks Threaded Locking Hitch Pin. So this is gonna be used with your Hollywood Racks bike racks or other accessories, you can double check our description here at etrailer and make sure you get the right part for you. We're gonna talk about which situations you might need this for as well as how to use it. Since this is a threaded pin, it's usually that way, so that it becomes an anti-rattle device, and that's why this needs to be used with Hollywood Racks accessories, because the thread on those accessories need to match the pin for it to work, this might not work for other brands' accessories. So the size of the pin and the lock, for the overall length is 5 7/8 of an inch, for the span, which is your usable space within the pin, that's gonna be three inches and 5/8 of an inch. To use it, first, get your bike rack into the hitch receiver, then line up the hitch pin hole on your rack with the hitch pin hole in your hitch receiver.

Once you're in place, you then get your bolt, and that goes through, and you have to move things around to get it in the right spot. You should be able to hand tighten the bolt most of the way through, but for the last couple turns, you are gonna need to use a tool. Most of your bike racks have a 3/4 inch stamp wrench included, you can also grab a 3/4 socket wrench. Put the lock body on. So this is in the unlocked position, and you can see how it fully slides onto the key or the hitch pin, we're then going to turn the key to the locked position, and just double check it by trying to pull the lock body off.

You can see that it's secure, so we're just gonna put this dust cap around it to protect that lock core. And it's that easy, you're able to install your threaded hitch bolt. With that in mind, some bike racks do not have a lock at the end, so this is going to be an upgrade where you can then replace a retaining clip with a lock body. Other biker racks already have a lock included, but maybe it's lost, broken, damaged, and you need something to replace it. Something else to keep in mind is that this is just the hitch bolt.

If you need a cable lock to wrap around your bikes that matches with this, we do have a kit available here at etrailer, which has both the hitch bolt and the Hollywood Racks cable lock.

Thanks for the great communication on the shipping. The part is just what I needed.

by:

Lost the original lock on my Hollywood bike rack for not making sure the lock clicked when I put it in, placed an order for this one since it looked the same. It fits great!

by:

The lock works great! I'm happy to be able to purchase the name brand lock from another company at a cheaper price. I have had good experience with etrailer.com, shipping is prompt, they follow up with their customers after a purchase has been made and they don't send annoying emails out all the time. I appreciate a company like that and will do future business with them!

by:

I'm totally happy with etrailer and their service. The Hollywood bike rack and lock are good but not great.

by:

works perfectly. I have ordered many items from etrailer and have always had a good experience with them.

It works just as described, and gives me peace of mind that my bike rack along with bikes are not going anywhere.

by:

Item worked great. Due to the customer service and way the site works, I will not be ordering from etrailer again. Ordered what appeared to be an in stock item was told a week later after calling it was 3 weeks out.

by:

My locking hitch pin came really fast. I would and am purchasing from you guys again. I'm actually about to order when I'm done here. Anyhow, you guys have it figured out. Would you mind telling everyone else how to be more like you?

by:

Definitely need some patience to ensure the screws catch but this holds well and just needs to be tightened after a trip since I'm using it on camper so it bounces around more than if it were on a car.

by:

Product is as advertised. Fits perfectly!

Also,
they have good service, prices and selection.

by:

Great product. i would definitely use a gain.

I have another option for you, but the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock for Kuat Transfer Bike Racks - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # HLT you mentioned will not work with the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # HR200Z as the lock has a different thread pitch than what Hollywood Racks uses. Instead you will need the Hollywood Racks Threaded Hitch Lock for 2" Hitches # HRLHPT or Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable Lock for Hollywood Racks Commuter, Traveler,...

The Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack # HR4000 is going to require a threaded hitch lock like the Lock # HRLHPT which should have come with the bike rack. A standard locking pin like the Lock # HRLHP2 you found is a full 5/8" diameter to fit the hitch pin hole while the Lock # HRLHPT has a 1/2" diameter threaded section.

The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the start of the shank curve on the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider 2 Bike Rack, # HR1000Z, is 9 inches (see photo). This bike rack will work great on your vehicle. Hollywood Racks makes great bike racks. If you would like to add a locking hitch pin to secure your bike rack, I recommend picking up part # HRLHPT.

  • Can the HitchMate Threaded Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock be Used on the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider
I would love to help but it sounds like you are trying to use the HitchMate Threaded Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock part # HE6001 on both the Hitch Extender part # HE18 and your Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 part # HR1450Z. If that is the case then we do not offer any solutions that will allow you to do this. • Recommended Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock for Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2-Bike Rack
I do have a solution for you, however the Swagman Locking Anti-Rattle Threaded Hitch Pin # S64027 referenced in your question is designed specifically for the threaded shank on Swagman Bike Racks. For your Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2-Bike Rack # HR200Z, I instead recommend using the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable Lock # HRLHPT. This anti-rattle hitch lock is confirmed to fit the Hollywood Bike Rack and will work great at both reducing movement and protecting your investments. I have...

  • 1-1/4 Hitch Lock for Hollywood Racks Sport Rider 2-Bike Rack
There is a lock that will work for your Hollywood Racks Sport Rider 2-Bike Carrier # HR1000Z-R, although Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4" Hitches # HE6033 will not work because it is made for Advantage SportsRack bike racks and is threaded differently. Instead, you will need the Hollywood Racks Locking Threaded Hitch Pin # HRLHPT, which is a fit for your Sport Rider 2.

  • Hitch Lock Recommendation for Hollywood Racks Bike Rack
We have an anti-rattle hitch lock designed specifically as a fit for Hollywood Rack bike racks. For that you'd want the Hollywood Racks Threaded Hitch Lock # HRLHPT. The HitchMate hitch lock part # HE6001 that you referenced is designed for a different brand of bike rack and would not fit. The lock on the # HRLHPT would be easier to access though since it's perpendicular to the bolt instead. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

It sounds like you are needing a replacement hitch pin for your bike rack. I was not able to reference the exact part number HD-1500-A4892 you provided. We do carry the Hollywood Rack HR-1500 series racks, which was the most similar part number I could find. • Is Hollywood Racks Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable Lock Compatible with the Trail Rider
Yes, the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable Lock # HRLHPTC are compatible with the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider # HR200Z and it will fit a 1-1/4" hitch receiver. The reason it isn't listed as a compatible rack is because the Trail Rider has locks on the adjustable arms where this is a kit that comes with a cable lock so it technically isn't the exact replacement.
