Nearly every hitch setup suffers from a bit of slip. This free play between your trailer hitch receiver and your hitch-mounted accessory is completely normal, but it's also completely preventable. By adding the Quiet Hitch to your setup, you can stabilize your hitch-mounted accessory as it sits in the receiver to eliminate rattle, sway, and all that extra play.

USE W ACCESSORIES - BAR ON TOP

Just slip the Quiet Hitch over your tow bar, hitch adapter, ball mount, or other accessory. When you slide the accessory into the hitch receiver, position the U-bolt around the collar on the bottom of your hitch receiver. Then place the bar on top of the accessory shank and tighten the nuts onto the U-bolt. As you tighten the Quiet Hitch, the shank of your accessory will be pulled down towards the bottom of the receiver opening, thus securing it in place within the tube.

Benefits for a Tow Bar

Using an anti-rattle device, such as the Quiet Hitch, is recommended when flat towing a vehicle. Besides reducing wear and tear on your tires, hitch receiver, and tow bar, using an anti-rattle device can help prevent more serious problems. A small amount of free play at your hitch may not seem like much, but this sway is magnified the farther back you go. A little movement at the hitch translates to a lot of movement at the rear of your towed vehicle. By using the Quiet Hitch, you eliminate this sway at the source.

Note: If you have a towing setup that includes a drop receiver or a high-low adapter, use 2 immobilizers to make your system as secure and rattle-free as possible. Use 1 Quiet Hitch at the connection point between the adapter and your hitch, and use the other where your tow bar slides into the adapter.

Seems to work. 3k miles in rain and snow and no noticable corrosion yet. I like the design since allows to be installed up or down orientation, which helps when having a dual hitch extender and needing to dodge interferences.

by:

Great to secure the trailer ball tongue to the hitch receiver. No more clanking and noises.

by:

This is exactly what I was looking for and required less than two minutes to install. The cylindrical profile allows it to accommodate both common geometries found on ball mounts - I.e. flat surface and 90-degree angles. It does cost more than other devices you can find, but IMHO it’s worth it!

by: 01/10/2024

This adapter is only for round pins. If the 7-pin connector on your vehicle has flat blades instead of round pins, this adapter will not work.

I'll give it five stars because I expect it works fine, I just didn't realize I needed to check the pins. No fault of the part.

I just bought a new bike rack for my E-bike, and in order to be able to put the tailgate down with the e-bike on the rack, I had to install a 7" extender on to the 2" hitch. The bike rack already had a anti-rattle device built in, but the 7" extension moved around a lot, making my e-bike sway real bad while on the road. A simple and excellent fix was installing the Quiet Hitch, an Anti-rattle Ring. After I installed it, the bike rack was solid as a rock. Installed in just a few minutes, and very well made. (Of course, it's made in the good old USA.). Made by Roadmaster. Good Job!

The quiet hitch is still working as good as the first day I put it on. Its been a slow year, with the flu and all, but I expect it to be a great tool for years to come.

by:

After searching and bought other anti-rattle brackets only to find out that these did not fit, this one has been the only one I found that fits the width of my hitch extension. I am satisfied with this product. It is easy to put on and off between trips.

by:

Good addition to add extra support 2” E-bike receiver hitch. The Swagman bike carrier is a great hitch but I wanted the extra security being on the back of our trailer.

James

Excellent result in eliminating the excess hitch clearance that leads to additional movement of the e-bike rack. Rock solid piece of mind when going down the road.

by:

After a long review of available products to reduce rattle on my low-tongue-weight job trailer, I settled on this unit as my only hope. I had to install it upside-down (nuts down) because the safety chain anchor rings on my Jeep Renegade block access to the lower lip on the receiver. Even so, it eliminated the greatest part of the awful rattle, bringing the problem down to a truly acceptable level.

After a year, the hitch rattles slightly more than it did when I first installed it yes, the torque is still proper but still nowhere near as bad as it did before I purchased it.

by:

We have a small pop up camper on our 4WD truck, We fabricated a top step using a plate(step tread) welded on a draw bar. The step moved slightly because the draw bar was not secure. The Roadmaster "Quiet Hitch" removed all the "wiggle" in the step and has removed the extra movement out of our tow hitch ( we tow a Suzucki Samurai).

Thanks for for following up . Quiet Hitch QH is continuing to work out great.

by:

I order the roadmaster quiet hitch from E-trailer and it seems to be working OK, it's taken out about half of the wobble on my hitch Accessory. I give E-trailer of 5 star for shipping it out, it only took about a week. And I give the product about 4 stars because it is built sturdy and seems to be working OK.

7/25/2019

Ive had to replace both nuts on both sides due to the fact they just did not seem to tighten down and stay tight. I went ahead and bought hardened nuts instead and they seem to be working out. It still only keeps the rattle down to about 50 or 70 but its better than nothing

by:

Thank you for the fast reply and shipment you are ALWAYS there when needed

by:

The product is effective beyond my hopes. All the rattling of my 6" drop hitch has stopped when under load or just driving without the trailer. I couldn't be happier.

Doug O.

Still works great with no rattles. Still looks new after repeated dips at the boat ramp.

by:

Easy to install, only took a couple minutes and solved my noise and tolerance problem between trailer hitch and receptacle.

7/29/2018

Still working great, a solid extension of my truck!

by:

This invention is exactly what I needed. I pull several trailers and also a camper. It takes all the clunk and rattle out of the hitch. Its the real deal!

Donald

5/9/2019

It still works great and I would not pull one of my trailers without it!

by:

Simple and functional.
I use it with
a dual reviewer hitch to carry my bike (one up USA) while I pull my camper. No clanking or rattle, and the bike doesn't flop around.

1 Year, many trips, still working great.

by:

Product works great.

by:

I haven't towed anything yet after installing this product, however I've tried to get the hitch to wiggle using both hands and plenty of body English. The hitch is as tight as if welded. It's nice to purchase a product that works as well as or better than advertised!

This item stopped the loose slop rattle on day 1. Still works well after one year.

by:

A year later and this anti-rattle hitch product still works great with a variety of bicycle and motorcycle hitch carriers I have been using. Great product.

by:

This product has been flawless. I have a hitch extension with a riser, attached to a hitch swing out mount and then attach a 3 bike rack to that. The point is my set up puts a huge amount of stress on this anti wobble device and it has handled it perfectly. Did I mention I’ve driven this set up hundreds of miles off road? Washboard roads and plenty of off road in Baja Mexico. I originally tried one of the flat steel plate anti wobble devices, it ended up bending. I can not recommend this round anti wobble device enough!

by:

The quiet hitch has proven to be an excellent purchase. Not only does it reduce the noise of the luggage rack rattling while driving, but it also keeps the luggage rack from shaking and therefore, keeps the luggage more secure. I highly recommend purchasing this item if you are going to be attaching a luggage rack to your hitch. I have not hauled anything with the tow hitch, and therefore don't have any experience to rate in that area.

by:

I just fitted the Blue Ox towbar, for 6 inch, drop/rise, receivers. Also, the, Roadmaster quiet hitch lock, for 2 inch hitches. Both are excellent products, strong and very well made. There is no movement, with my new hitch lock in place. Two pictures included, showing both, attached to my Subaru Ascent, the drop hitch now sits at 15 1/2 inches above the ground. I will send more pictures of the lights, also purchased from etrailer.com when my mobility scooter carrier is completed.

by:

I ended up using a 7-1/2 inch Roadmaster extender along with a Roadmaster 4" Hi-Lo adapter to tow our Jeep with our motorhome. I used 3 of the quiet hitch brackets to stabilize the extensions and tow bar. We towed for the first time this weekend for about a 170 mile round trip. The Jeep tracked perfectly behind the motorhome. I had to make several hard stops due to lights changing and cars pulling into traffic unexpectedly. There was absolutely no noise or hitch bounce. They are easily installed. I highly recommend this product.

by:

Having a Jeep with a hatch you get a lot of trailer noise inside of the vehicle. I bought this product hoping to reduce that sound and it works flawlessly. It eliminates the clunk of the hitch moving around especially with a light load. Plus it also adds a little extra security with the hitch when parked somewhere with your load. Great product!

by:

Good product, simple and does as it says. We full time rv and I installed one of these on our hitch that pulls our car behind our rv. 14,000 miles and still going strong. No rattles, no slop.

by:

THIS SIMPLE, INEXPENSIVE DEVICE WORKS EXACTLY AS INTENDED. IT STOPS THE MOVEMENT OF THE HITCH IN THE RECEIVER WHICH PREVENTS DAMAGE/ELONGATION OF THE HITCH PIN HOLE. I WIPED OUT THE RECEIVER ON MY LAST TRUCK BUT AFTER 2 YEARS WITH THIS DEVICE, MY NEW ONE IS STILL LIKE NEW. IT ALSO HELPS A LITTLE AS AN ANTI THEFT DEVICE.

  • Installation of the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061
The Roadmaster Quiet Hitch, # RM-061, was designed to eliminate rattle in ball mounts, tow bars and other hitch mounted accessories. It pulls the shank of the ball mount or other accessory against the receiver to keep the ball mount from bouncing around. This device should not be used when towing a trailer. It was not designed to support the tongue weight of a trailer and could be damaged if too much force is exerted on the device.

I'm assuming you're speaking of an anti-rattle device. Many anti-rattle devices depend on the receiver tube to have a lip around it. The Roadmaster # RM-061 or the Brophy # RSCP are examples of this type. An anti-rattle device like the # 63232 doesn't depend on the receiver tube having a lip in order to work. Keep in mind that a dual-hitch adapter like the MaxxTow MT70070 will lower the tongue weight capacity of the hitch its used in by 50 percent.
