The service was good. The welding was not like the item shown in the pictures on their website. Well, the welding is probably adequate in strength. It is sub par in my opinion.

by:

My new weight distribution shank fits perfectly. The shank I ordered was out of stock. The amazing people in customer service found an alternative option for me. It came today with a few days to spare.
Thank you so much you saved the day.
I've attached a pic of the old with a sleeve witch we used last year and snapped two pins and almost lost our trailer. The new shank fits lik a glove. I don't think we'll be snapping any pins this year. I've attached a pic of the new shank all assembled.

by:

Well made, solid product. Excellent fit and finish. Made in the USA. Arrived early and well packaged.

by:

Ordered it and within 2 days it was here. My trailer hirch was for a class IV, the new truck has a Class V. I was able to swith out the shank very easily.

by:

I purchased a New F-350 and the trailer hitch is 2 1/2 inches, coming from a F-150 with a 2 inch hitch. With A spacer sleeve I felt there was to much play and like the Equal-i-zer has served me well so I just needed the shaft to attach the head to. It fits into the hitch the same as the 2 inch fit in the F-150. Have not moved head yet but the drop falls within the trailer level height. Shaft arrived with no damage the box had a small tear but for the weight of the shaft it was acceptable.

by:

Went from a F150 to F250 and needed the 2.5" shank. This fit perfectly for my eazlift WD hitch. Don't wait! I waited to long and elongated the holes in my receiver from all the play of the 2" shank with the spacer. Buy this now you won't be disappointed!

by:

The drop hitch is solid and heavy. Perfect for my class V receiver.

by:

The shank arrived with some paint damage. No other issues.

by:

It’s a hitch shank - a big hunk of steel. Product was successfully delivered within a couple of days. The packaging was damaged, but it’s hard to wreck that big hunk of steel so no problem. Haven’t installed it on my WDH yet, but see no reason why it won’t do exactly what it is supposed to do.

by:

Heavy duty. Best price. Fits good.

Shank is working out well. It illuminates using an adapter, which illuminates a lot of movement in that area and noises.

by:

This receiver is very good quality it should do what I want for my 3/4 ton truck to hook to our camper. The 2 1/2 receiver is what you need to be safe in hauling large loads. When I ordered this product from e-trailer they had it and ordering was great and it was delivered in a very timely matter.

by:

Great product, easy to swap out, and additional follow up information sent via email was great!

by:

excellant customer service
package came
damaged and the product was missing made one call to E-Trailer was helped by Lori explained the problem I had she expedited a replacement order which was shipped the same day we talked. Very professional

by:

I ordered this 2-1/2 inch equalizer shank because I had to use a reducer sleeve on my 2015 Ram 3500 with my 2 inch equalizer shank. I was worried that the Eazlift head I had wouldn't fit but research on the etrailer web site said it would. It fit beautifully! Now I have less slop in my receiver and I don't have to mess with a stupid reducer. Definitely worth the money!

I have towed my 34 Airstream to New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Nebraska and Iowa from South Dakota. I havent had any problems and I dont feel anywhere near the slop as I felt with the reducer and the 2 shank. It has definitely been worth the money, if you are using the reducer buy this, you wont be dissatisfied.

by:

Very good customer service and follow up

by:

Product arrived as described and super fast. Always a pleasure doing business with etrailer

by:

Very well constructed I havn't used it yet but did switch over my ball mount to it . it was dropped in shipping and should be shipped in a stronger box .

It works great I bought it to get away from using the 2-1/2 - 2 reducer sleeve in my GM hitch to reduce the slop . It didnt do away with the slop as the GM receiver is oversize . i needed more anyway so it worked out .

by:

The service was excellent helping me to find the right hitch shank. Free shipping was an added bonus on too of a great price. Highly recommend etrailer.

This has been a perfect solution to avoid fiddling with reducers. Keep in mind the weight of the hitch is increased.

by:

I initially had a 2” shank and had to use an adapter sleeve to fit the 2-1/2” receiver. I was always fussing with the adapter and a sloppy and noisy fit. I upgraded to the 2-1/2” shank and that solved the problem. It’s a perfect fit, it’s quieter, and all the hardware from my previous weight distributing hitch transferred without any issues. I’m very happy with the product.

by:

Upgraded tow vehicle has a 2-1/2" receiver and I was not comfortable using the sleeve for the Hitch shank to pull my 30' camper. Went to the Larger shank which fit perfectly and did the job. Only complaint is that it is that much heavier, which logic says would be so. Order and Delivery was reasonable and prompt.

by:

Ordering this hitch shank was simple with multiple options for shipment. I received the order on the day etrailer gave me. The product was in good shape with no scratches. I installed it with easy and tested it. Works as advertised and this could fit and level my trailer beautifully. I read I should have ordered the shank 90-02-4900 (I purchased the 90-02-4800), but I think that would have been an overkill. I measure the trailer tongue height at 30 inches (Outdoors RV trailer). With my 2017 Ford F-250 with air bags. Improvements: eTrailer should put a note that if a customer is going from a 2 inch to 2 1/2 inch hitch, the customer might want to upgrade to a longer hitch pin, as well.

by:

This is a thing of beauty! Lovingly crafted of steel with just the right amount of adjustment holes and then expertly covered in gleaming high gloss opaque midnight black paint, the depths of which can only be imagined in your dreams. The square shank has seemingly perfect right angles to mate with your receiver in a gentle but secure manner without lubrication or foreplay. The geometry is sublime and what other shanks can only aspire to. Much poetry will be written about this shank.
Seriously, this is a solid steel 2 1/2" shank that correctly fits the Ford receiver. So...no sleeves. I like that it's solid and has no hollow parts but this makes it really heavy. You get what you pay for. etrailer made this a painless purchase and it came with my other hitch parts right on time.

by:

I was delighted to finally find this 2 1/2" hitch. Now I don't have to use the sleeve (2 1/2" to 2") which was very hard to remove. This 2 1/2" shank slides in & out easily & quickly. And the 5/8" holding pin is located in a better position which allows the shank to slide into the receiver further.

by:

Shipping was fast! Part was readily av ailable

by:

Very heavy duty. Fit perfectly with reduced slop. I had been using a 2 inch with a reducer in my 2 1/2 inch receiver. This feels much safer. Using this with the Equal-i-zer hitch. Tongue weight is only 650 lbs., travel trailer is only 7000 lbs. so this is under virtually no stress. Should last a lifetime. Shipment actually delivered two days before the original estimated date. Nice welds, Durable paint high gloss. Weighs nearly 30 pounds before attaching the equalizer hitch.

  • Replacement Options for Reese Titan Weight Dist Shank
There are a few different options for a replacement shank since the 54977 has been discontinued. You can use the Equal-i-zer # EQ90-02-4900 with a 10" rise/6" drop or # EQ90-02-4800 with an 8" rise/4" drop. You will need to choose based on the rise/drop you need for your setup. Both of these have a max gross trailer weight of 16,000 lbs and tongue weight of 1,600 lbs. If you truly needed the 1,700/17,000 lb capacity of the Reese the only option would be the Blue Ox # BXW4028. This has...

The best thing you can do to help with the porpoising you are experiencing when towing your travel trailer with your 2022 Ford F-250 is use a weight distribution hitch because porpoising is generally caused by having uneven weight distributed or the trailer not being level. For this you'll need to determine your total tongue weight of your loaded trailer and pick the right system based off that. We can definitely get you set up correctly, and let's start with the Equal-i-zer itself, and this is absolutely the best overall choice for a weight distribution hitch for a number of different reasons. First is its sway control system, which is exceptional relative to other systems because it uses 4 points of sway control via friction in the spring bars and head unit (compared to 2 points on other systems), which ensures you never have to worry about your trailer swaying. It is possible to switch out the 2" weight distribution shank to a 2-1/2" shank like part # EQ90-02-4900. To figure out the amount of rise/drop you may need in a weight distribution shank you would need to do some measuring. I recommend to measure from the top of the hitch on your truck to the ground. Then measure from the bottom of the trailer coupler to the ground. The difference between those two measurements is the amount of rise/drop needed. If your coupler height is greater, you...

Basically the weight capacity for the # EQ90-02-4800 is 1,600 lbs. A lot of weight distribution systems are rated for tongue weight ranges. In this case there is really only a max capacity that it can be used with. Since this is a 2-1/2 inch hitch shank there is an assumption that it would be used on a heavier application that may be misleading.
