Parts Needed to Allow Use of 2-Inch Weight Distribution System in 2-1/2-Inch Hitch
Question:
Good morning, Question: I have a 6,000 lb trailer towed by a chevy 1500 2 in shank. I just got a Ram 3500 is there a way to change the shank to fit the 2 1/2 inch receiver with out getting a new sway control set up. I will be getting a bigger trailer soon. Thanks for the help. Have a great day

Yes, you can use your 2-inch weight distribution hitch (WDH) in a 2-1/2-inch hitch in either of two ways.
One way is to add a hitch reducer sleeve to the 2-1/2-inch hitch to drop it down to a 2-inch size to allow using your system as-is. We have many brands of reducer such as Curt # C45405; this and others appear on the linked page.
The other way is to replace the 2-inch shank with a 2-1/2-inch shank and we do offer these as individual parts. All 2-1/2-inch shanks appear on the other linked page. These parts are all standardized and they are NOT brand specific so you can use any one that has the rise/drop dimension you need. Curt shank # C17132, for instance, offers up to 9-1/4-inches of drop and up to 12-inches of rise. Part # EQ90-02-4800 that you referenced will also work but it provides less height range.
