Excellent fit for a 2022 F350 ( 7.3L Gas engine) 2 1/2” receiver.
Rv dealer agreed to swap out my old 2” shank with this 2 1/2” one for the equalizer e4

Been working out great - adds a bit more heft to a heavy duty hitch setup - but worth not having the hassles of trying to line up the sleeve and hitch into the receiver with the pin.

by:

Works really well! Glad to get rid of the sleeve inside my receiver and it helped me level my trailer better by dropping the hitch down. Works well with Fastway e2 setup

After a year, I am still pleased with this product!

by:

This is a serious chunk of metal, and required for the 2 1/2" receiver for the sway control setup. I have this on a 2019 Super Duty, works perfect.

by:

There were many large scrapes on the item that I ordered that removed the paint, exposing the raw steel. After several polite emails with your customer service people, they explained how this could have happened and offered to send me a can of touch up paint as one of my options. I realize sometimes things happen. It was great to deal with reasonable people. The product looks very sturdy and I expect it to function as advertised.

by:

This hitch shank did exactly what I expected it to do. Fit my new 2.5 inch receiver without reducer sleeve and I needed more drop than my old one provided.

by:

Well built and rugged. Perfect for connecting my 2018 Ram 4x4 pickup to an Equalizer weight distribution system. Has pulled my 25ft trailer 42,000 miles without any complaints. I coat of paint each year keeps it in good shape.

by:

Nice product!! Excellent and prompt shipping from eTrailer..

by:

We recently upgraded from a Ram 1500 to a Ram 2500. The 2500 receiver is considerably higher off the ground and is 2 1/2" rather than 2". I have a Camco EAZ-Lift R3 Weight Distribution Hitch and the ball was too high off the ground. The Equalizer Weight Distributing Shank is exactly what I needed to get our Lance camper level and a 2 1/2" to 2" reducing sleeve is no longer needed. Note: It is considerably heavier than the original shank - 60 lbs. total with the ball mount. We've towed over 600 miles without a problem. Highly recommend!

by:

Exactly what I needed. I had the equalizer hitch for my RV, but recently bought a new truck changing the height requiring a drop and the shank went from 2" to 2 1/2". Got it wrong the first time (my fault), but many thanks to etrailer for working with me to get the right size and arranging my return of the wrong size. The hitch is made by Equalizer and works perfectly with their hitch. OEM parts for sure. So glad to get this sorted out and ready to use. Many thanks to etrailer and Paul for helping me with this item.

by:

Exactly what I needed

by:

Just the right hitch I was looking for. Perfect amount of drop I needed to level out my 33" Travel Trailer on 2016 Ram 2500HD.

Great Product, No problems.

by:

When the original manufacturer of my Husky weight distribution hitch couldn't or wouldn't help me with my new truck requirements, I got a taller truck, etrailer's awesome customer service found a perfect alternative. Equalizer brand makes a 2.5 inch to 2 inch drop hitch shank and the kind folks at eTrailer were knowledgeable and helpful and found I exactly what I needed

by:

Just purchased Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD 4X4 and realized after purchase that the trailer hitch was now a 2 1/2" receiver instead of a 2". I tried using the old 2" shank/drop sleeved to 2 1/2" and it was a pain keeping holes lined up to pin to the hitch. I had the sleeve tack welded to the 2" shank and the welds broke the first trip out. The Equalizer 2 1/2" shank to 2" drop was just what I needed. I bolted my old Weight Distribution hitch to the new drop and took my 30ft travel trailer for a spin no worries. Great purchase. Delivered promptly and in good condition. Customer service was fantastic. Shopping at etrailer.com was easy. I'll be back

by:

I ordered this after I purchased a new pickup with a 2.5 inch receiver. The item arrived on time and fits my vehicle snugly! It also attached to my equalizer Hitch without any problems.

by:

When I bought my Equalizer trailer hitch I had a Ram 1500 with a 2" receiver for the hitch. The truck and trailer hooked up as advertised. But I was very concerned that my trailer weight and tongue weight were at the maximum capacity for my truck, so we bought a Super Duty F-250.
Problems were two fold, one the receiver on my F-250 is 2-1/2"; and two, with using a reducing sleeve , the top of my ball was 3" higher than my trailer. I called etrailer and was told I needed a different shank. They recommended a EQ90-02-4900.
I received the new shank yesterday and installed it. The top of the ball is now 3" lower, exactly where it needs to be for my trailer. Plus, the new shank is 2-1/2” and fits my trucks receiver. I did not realize that the hitch pin lock I bought from etrailer isn't long enough to fit the 2-1/2" receiver, so now I am waiting for that delivery.

Good product and good people!

I switched from a 2015 f150 2wd to a 2019 f250 4wd
The jump in reciever height was significant. Spent a long time trying to figure out what shank I needed. Did a lot of research.. I hated the 2 in shank becuase of the sleeve I'd have to use with my husky centerline ts system. At first I didn't know they even made a drop shank that would fit in 2-1/2 in reciever and still fit on the weight distribution hitch.. I was pleasantly surprised.. so this shank dropped my ball height to 22 inches pretty close to where I needed it to be I thought about getting the curt shank with 8 in drop but would have put the shank closer to the ground then what I wanted.. Haven't hooked up to camper yet but so far so good.. Thanks etrailer..

by:

I love this weight distribution shank. It fits my F250 hitch and I don't have to use that spacer/adapter! Everything connected beautifully and it gave me another inch of distance between traile and truck, so I can lower my tailgate.

by:

Very nice product and fast delivery. Very happy customer

by:

Bought for a 4000 mile trip. Setup- 2015 2500 Ram, microlite 25 brds about 7k lbs. make sure the position of bars is exact on each side, even a 1/2 inch difference will make the trailer lunge to the side in a turn.. once i got it dialed it was awesome and i hauled ass through mountain passes and tight turns with ease. Its a must have. I wont ever tow with out one again.

by:

I needed a new drop shank to set up my E2 hitch due to a move from a F150 to my new F250. (2.5" shank and 6" drop) After a chat with Tiffany on the website we figured out what I needed and I placed the order.

The only reason for 4 stars is having to pay 2 day shipping when "free shipping" had the same delivery date.

Thanks for great info and help!

by:

I’m very pleased with the hitch. It came to my house in 2 days and shipped for free.

by:

Fast delivery and great product. I was looking for a drop hitch that would allow me to get rid of the reducer sleeve. This worked perfect.

by:

Just the right hitch I was looking for. Perfect amount of drop I needed to level out my 33" Travel Trailer on 2016 Ram 2500HD.

by:

My receiver is 2 1/2in and I just wanted to not use a sleeve with the Equal-i-zer hitch. This beefer has been great! I have a ram 2500 with air suspension so the ability to drop the hitch this low has helped tremendously.

by:

This was exactly what I needed to lower my hitch so that my Ram 2500 lined up perfectly the way my Ram 1500 had.

  • Will An Equalizer Weight Distribution Shank Work With A Reese Dual Cam Weight Distribution System
Yes, a shank like the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 2-1/2" Hitch # EQ90-02-4900 could work for your Reese system but be sure you are using a shank that matches or exceeds the capacity of your Reese system as well as provides enough rise or drop as needed. Weight distribution shanks are universal and can be used between manufacturers. That said, I did contact Equalizer who mentioned that using a different manufacturer's shank on their weight distribution system could potentially affect...

There are a few different options for a replacement shank since the 54977 has been discontinued. You can use the Equal-i-zer # EQ90-02-4900 with a 10" rise/6" drop or # EQ90-02-4800 with an 8" rise/4" drop. You will need to choose based on the rise/drop you need for your setup. Both of these have a max gross trailer weight of 16,000 lbs and tongue weight of 1,600 lbs. The shank included with the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 16,000 lbs GTW, 1,600 lbs TW # EQ64FR you were looking at only has up to 3" of drop so for more drop you can use one of the following shanks: 4" drop # EQ90-02-4800 6" drop # EQ90-02-4900 8" drop # EQ94FR Each of these shanks still work in a 2-1/2" receiver, it just comes down to exactly how much drop you need. I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.

To determine the amount of drop you'll need your replacement shank to have, take a height measurement from the top inside edge of the receiver tube to the ground, then measure from the bottom of the trailer's coupler to the ground (make sure trailer is level when taking the measurement) then subtract the coupler height from the hitch height. • Weight Distribution Shank for a 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch
There are several weight distribution shanks that will fit a 2-1/2 inch hitches and that taper in where the head attaches so that you can still use the same head. Shank # EQ90-02-4900 is one example. The holes where the head mounts are 3/4 inches in diameter and spaced 1-1/4 inches apart on center. It has a 10 inch rise or 6 inch drop. To determine the amount of rise or drop needed you can follow the ball mount measuring technique explained in the linked help article.

You can replace the hub to the Rock Tamers using part # ERT034. It's the replacement hub for systems that fit a 2 inch ball mount but they're interchangeable. The downside is you'll need to change the hub everytime you're switching trailers since you want the 2-1/2 inch when towing your boat or utility trailer and the 2 inch for the camper. Another option is to change the shank of the weight distribution system to a 2-1/2 inch so you won't have to convert the Rock Tamers, part # ERT00110,...

  • Upgrading a 12K Equal-I-zer Weight Distribution System to a 14K
There area few differences between the 1,200 and 1,400 pound Equal-I-zer systems. The heads are different and the spring bars are different. If your tongue weight is over 1,200 pound then the 1,200 pound system is not rated high enough. When calculating tongue weight for weight distribution you go by the total tongue weight. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer when loaded and ready to tow plus the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle....

  • How to Tell if 6" Drop for Equal-i-zer WD Shank is Good for Towing a Trailer Level
The answer to your question is a solid maybe. In order to have the correct amount of drop you need to measure from the ground to the top inside of the hitch receiver on your truck, and then from the ground to the bottom of the coupler on your trailer. If your truck receiver is higher then you need a drop with the difference, but if it's lower then you need a rise with the difference. So the 6" drop of the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4900 will be perfect if you take those measurements...
