  • Equal-i-zer
  • Equal-i-zer

Minimize noise and reduce wear and tear on your Equal-i-zer sway-control brackets and spring bars with these unique, plastic sleeves. Designed for use with Equal-i-zer weight-distribution systems rated for 6,000 lbs to 14,000 lbs GTW.

Features:

  • Jackets slip onto the L-brackets of your Equal-i-zer weight-distribution system to limit steel-on-steel contact
    • Minimizes wear on sway-control brackets and spring bars
    • Creates a quieter towing system
  • Nylon construction is sturdy and durable
  • Application: 2" wide sway-control L-brackets of Equal-i-zer weight-distribution systems rated for 6,000 lbs - 14,000 lbs GTW
  • 2 Sway bracket jackets included
  • Made in the USA

Note: Using the sway bracket jackets on your sway-control brackets may slightly diminish the effectiveness of your Equal-i-zer system's integrated sway control. Although minimizing the steel-on-steel contact eliminates some of the noise that occurs when towing with the Equal-i-zer, it also limits the friction created when sway occurs and, therefore, the effectiveness of the integrated sway control.

I’ve been using these jackets with my weight distribution system for the past year. I have to say they’ve made a nice difference in helping my weight distribution system perform much quieter and reducing the friction between metal parts. I highly recommend them.

by:

My wife hated the noise from the sway bars, these little gems did the trick.

by:

Is there a bigger set that y’all make because the one I ordered is a apparently to small it don’t fit the hitch set up I have I left a pic of what mines looks like hopefully y’all can help me find the right one and return this one

I would be happy to see if we have brackets that would work for you. What brand of weight distribution hitch do you have? Would you be able to send a picture of the whole system?

by:

The Sway Bracket Jackets work perfectly and exactly as described. They were a breeze to install and fit perfectly. They eliminated any noise previously encountered while towing our travel trailer. I would highly recommend these sway jackets and etrailer.com.

by:

I will setup the Equal-i-zer system in a couple of months and try the jacket brackets. Curious to find out how much sway there may be with and without them. For the price, I think it's worth trying.

by:

I bought these cause the noise from my equalizer hitch was waking up the dead. I put these on and the noise was gone while towing my trailer.
One thing I did notice was that getting passed by big trucks now caused swaying that never happened before the pads were installed.
I sold my 26" trailer that these were installed on and up graded to a new Jayco 36' trailer. Of course since this corona virus nonsense I haven't used the new trailer I bought in October and am going to use it this week. I'm going to not use them on the way out and install them on the way back to see if I get any sway.

I believe Im right about the swaying. The swaying Im getting is because of the reduced friction on the bars. They stop the noise but are actually defeating the original purpose of the sway bars. Im also a dummy cause the majority of the noise I was experiencing was coming from the brackets attached to the hitch. I wasnt lubing them enough.

by:

These sway bracket jackets are worth the money. They quit the squeaky sounds from my equil-i-zer wdh.

by:

These are great for reducing SOME of the noise from the Equal-i-zer system and preventing premature wear to that system.

by:

Works as advertised. Now I don’t have to lubricate the joint to quieten the sqeaking.

Allen

1 year and 5k miles and still satisfied. Helps quiet the groaning that can occur with the hitch most noticed at slow speeds ie arriving at the campground and parking.

@Allen Keep in mind that using these will limit the sway control function to a certain degree...

by:

Delivered quickly, they really quiet down the weight distribution hitch.

by:

Product is good. It will wear because torsion bars ride back and forth against when turning. The bad, these should come with hitch to begin with. The jackets will require replacement so Equalizer will get their future sale once worn out. Some people say their sway bars make a lot of noise these are the answer; get them. Also, do the maintenance on your hitch and grease will stop metal to metal contact (noise)

Pegavas

1/5/2018

Still functioning as required, but Not as much wear as I had anticipated. Theyll last awhile before replacement. I would still buy and use on hitch bars.

by:

Very good products. Great to do business with. Will buy with etrailer in the near future.

by:

I have been using a little grease on the L bracket to eliminate squealing from the load bars moving back and forth during travel . This year I decided to install these bracket jackets when I happened across them while buying some other spares. Installation couldn't be easier and there were no issues. They do add a small amount of height to where the bars rest so it will slightly increase the load distribution of your hitch setup. Also, I may still put a small dab of grease on the vertical leg of the L bracket next time because there was some noise. So far, so good after using them once.

5/15/2019

Adding grease or the jackets will inhibit the sway prevention performance of the system to a degree, since the system depends on metal-on-metal friction to prevent trailer sway.

by:

I was unable to use this part as I have the newer Equalizer brackets retainers that have a rotating spring clip which will not clear these jackets. This product can only be used with the older style of brackets retainers that use the pin and retaining pin underneath the L bracket. I returned the part for a refund.

Weve contacted Equal-i-zer about these jackets. There was a short period when the L pins and jackets were not compatible. It has since been resolved and the jackets and pins have been updated and should now be compatible.

by:

Haven't had the chance to take trailer out yet, but should work great. Simple installation in seconds. It is such an obvious and inexpensive, fix, l don't understand why this is not standard with the hitch.

Steve P.

6/7/2018

After a year the bushingsilencers are still working well. My only complaint is that these should be integrated in the original purchase. Why would the hitch be sold without them, when they make the towing experience so much more pleasant and would not cost that much more for the manufacturer to include on initial purchase.

by:

Im not sure if it is 100% because of these but my hitch makes almost no noise now. I did grease the hitch pivots at the same time and loving how quiet everything is now. One of the better prices for this product as well.

Will W.

9/19/2018

Still working good a year later

by:

Went on two RV trips out West pulling a 27 ft. trailer, one with & one without the weight distribution hitch. There was no comparison. Without it, the strong winds out West on the plains moved us about and made steering difficult. With it, a smooth no problem experience as if there wasn't a trailer behind the truck. The tool to hook up the stabilizer bars makes it so easy. The pictured wear pads make a big difference so there's no wear between the bars and brackets extending their life. An excellent product and I would recommend it to anyone.

by:

Products were delivered timely and as described. I haven't utilized them yet, but the install was intuitive. I don't see why these wouldn't decrease the over all noise output from the hitch. Any time you can reduce friction of metal to metal you are on a good path.

Caleb S.

3/22/2018

Product is still excellent! 3/18. Purchase extra sets as you will wear them out, depending on the amount of use.

by:

it came as expected. happy with timely delivery. will be trying them out soon

by:

This will *reduce* but not *eliminate* the squeaking sound from the load distribution bars. It had no noticeable impact on sway control. Highly recommended.

Chris M.

4/30/2021

Still great, no noticeable wear, works as advertised.

by:

These worked great on my 1k/10k equalizer hitch. Took most of the popping out during slow turns. They seem durable and take 15 seconds to put on.

Ryan

3/27/2019

Awesome, still highly recommend!

by:

Keeps the sway bars quiet. If adding to existing setup, you might want to re-adjust your hitch. We grease the ball and the hitch swing-arm pivot points before every trip and after heavy rains. We don't notice a change in sway control, but our trailer only ever swayed in a crosswind. We still get a little push when being passed by a big rig, but that is hardly the fault of the plastic caps.

by:

The Hitch its self is awesome I just docked it a star because of cheap hardware. The sway is minimal the truck rides great and level and with the pads for the L-brackets noise is minimal. Like many vendors their hardware is not up to the task. I had the washers on the 3/4 bolts that hold the Head to the shank literally disintegrate(they cracked in so many places it was like a spider web). Luckily they held till I got home then I got some Military spec washers and they seem to be doing fine.

by:

These pads, even with a little grease added, did not stop the horrible screeching from my Equalizer. However, adding grease to the pivot points back on the main hitch did make a huge difference. I'll still use these, though - seems silly to have metal-on-metal at the tips of the bars. (Other brands use similar friction pads as a standard part of the system.) By the way, adding the grease as described above did not noticeably reduce the anti-sway feature of the hitch, though to be fair, I use it for a car hauler rather than a large travel trailer, so sway was never a big issue anyway.

by:

Great product. Easy to install. They have stopped the "grinding" noise that comes when using the sway bars. Would highly recomend them to anyone.

Beverly
