Replacement Lift Bracket for a Valley Brand Trunion WD System

Question:

Hello, I purchased a used TT 30 ft 7,000 lb Fleetwood and it came with a Valley Weight Distribution Hitch using Trunion bars. I am pulling the TT with an E250 Van and I bent the Lift brackets. I see you have the heavy duty Reese Brackets with a Max Frame width of 2 1/4 inches. My frame is only 2 inches. 2 questions... First, can I use the Reese Heavy duty Lift brackets for my Valley Hitch? Second, Does Reese make a Heavy Duty lift bracket with a 2 inch Max frame size? It seems obvious that part of the problem was created because the Valley Brackets could accommodate a 2 1/2 inch frame which placed too much stress on the set screw which was almost completely screwed in. If I could find a pair of Lift Brackets with a narrow 2 inch frame size, then a lot of the stress on the set screw would be eliminated, consequently, I would not bend the next set of Lift Brackets. Additionally, do the recommended brackets come in a complete kit with set screws and safety pins? Thanks for your help !!!

Since Valley is out of business I do not have a Valley part that I could recommend for you. The Reese Bracket part # RP21501 has never been tested with a Valley system like what you have so I do not know if it would work safely. Chances are it would since all the bracket does is hold a chain, but for liability reasons I cannot make that recommendation.

The heavy duty bracket would be a better option for you anyway, part # 58392.

Another possibility is that you could be bending the bracket when backing the trailer. If you are backing into very tight situations, there could be excess pressure put on the system and you would need to remember to remove the spring bars when getting into these circumstances.

I attached an FAQ on WD systems for you to check out as well.
