Are Heavy Duty Weight Distribution Brackets Needed for 800 to 1,000 Pounds Trailer Tongue Weight

Question:

I am in the process of upgrading a Reese Pro Series SC system to the Dual Cam system. I have already purchased the trunion bars part #6666 and the snap up brackets part #6637. My trailer weighs sloe to 9000lbs loaded and 800-1000 lbs hitch weight. I have read some forums online where people are having issues with the standard brackets. I have not installed any items as of yet still in box, so would I be ahead to return the standard brackets and re-order the heavier ones?

The regular snap-up brackets can bend if the hitch weight is higher than what they are rated for. At 800 to 1,000 pounds, your trailer tongue weight is within the limits of Reese dual-cam systems so it should not be a problem. The heavy duty brackets, # 58392 have some extra gussets for support and strength but I do not think you will need them.
