Recommended Brake Controller for 2000 Toyota Sienna

Question:

I am looking at a 2inch trailer hitch and wiring harness for a 2000 Toyota Sienna. I there a brake controller that can be used in conjunction with these?

Either the Curt Class III # C13511 or the Draw-Tite # 75120 would be an excellent choice that would work very well for you. Both hitches have similar capacities and would install in similar manner. The Hopkins # 43475 trailer wiring harness you referenced would work just fine.

A brake controller is not a vehicle specific item, you can use just about any controller on just about any vehicle. I would highly recommend a proportional controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. A proportional controller features an internal accelerometer that can sense how quickly the tow vehicle is braking, and will then send the proper amount of voltage to the trailer brakes so the trailer and the tow vehicle stop at the same rate. If you're only planning on towing a single trailer that's equipped with brakes, a simpler controller like the Primus, part # TK90160 would work just fine.

The P2 is one of our best sellers, primarily because of how easy it is to use. You would also need a brake controller installation kit, part # ETBC7. The kit contains everything needed to install the controller, including the adapter needed to turn the 4-pole provided by the # 43475 into a 7-way and all the necessary wire, hardware and circuit breakers. I'll link you to a help article that explains how the install kit is used, as well as to an install video showing the kit being used to install a controller on a newer Honda Odyssey. Even though the video shows a different vehicle, the procedure would be very similar.
