To add a hitch to your 2017 Toyota Highlander, I recommend the etrailer item # e98844. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Toyota with included hardware. It is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver. This hitch has a 6,000 lbs towing capacity and a 900 lbs maximum tongue weight.

To install a wiring harness on your Highlander you'll first need to know whether or not your Highlander has the factory towing package because the connectors are different. This is not something I am able to tell you. The harnesses install in the same location in your rear cargo area and if you don't want to take it apart to check which one you need before ordering you can always call your local Toyota dealership and give them your VIN. They'll be able to look up what options your Highlander has. I have listed both wiring harnesses below.

Without Factory Tow Package - Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C56217

With Factory Tow Package - Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # 56042

I'm glad you like the videos. I have attached a couple below to help you get these parts installed.

To round out your towing setup, I recommend the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches item # C45534. This towing kit will provide you with a 2" ball and a fixed ball mount with a 3/4" rise and 2" drop. It also includes a hitch pin and clip, hitch receiver lock with keys, hitch cover, and a storage case.
