Comparing MaxxFan 7500K And 6200K Models. Do I Need A Voltage Regulator?

Question:

I was ready to pull the trigger on replacing the 2 vent fans on my 2022 Grand Design Imagine 2600RB to the Maxx Air MA00-06200K - we see no need for a remote control if that is the only difference in the 6200K and the 7500K.. On several sites I have reviewed issues with the 6200K - a very loud squeal and lots of issues with power regulation - and some with the 7500K, too - basically the same unit. YES?. Lots of pluses for your customer service lots of negatives about Airxcel customer service. I believe I understood Jon G to say that if it is not being installed on the vehicle van or truck - no trailer you would not need a voltage regulator. I the great concept but would not want the grief if it actually has major per norm - some are super happy and others super displeased. The installation would seem relatively simple - lots of good youtube videos on the 2600RB. We all shop various sites - your 4.8 for 691 is decent, with 1.3 1 stars the 4.4 on Amazon with 8 1 stars of 1770 is not a very good rating many of the complaints were the same - the squeal and power failure. I am, still going through your See what our evperts sayinch THANKS .

You are right that the # MA00-06200K and the # MA00-07500K are very similar vent fans as far as most of the internal components. The main difference is that the 7500K uses a remote and has a powered lift. The 6200K is manual control and manual lift. Other than those features they are effectively the same. We get a large majority of good feedback on both models, and I would not expect any noise issues with a brand new fan.

As far as the voltage regulator, we have found in most cases they are not needed. Usually there is enough voltage drop between the battery and the vent so that even when charging, the fan will not be effected. I imagine this will be the case with your 2022 Grand Design Imagine. I do agree with what Jon G said, that unless it was being installed on a smaller vehicle, with very little distance between the battery and fan, it should not be a problem.

That being said, some folks will add the voltage regulators anyway, just to play it safe. We do not sell any voltage regulators here at etrailer but if you were to pick up a few from a local hardware store, they are usually pretty inexpensive and there really is no downside to adding them.

Installation will be fairly easy. A lot of times removing the old vent is harder than putting in the new one. You can use our Roof Vent Install Kit # 344270KITW which will come with the sealant, butyl tape and screws.

We actually had the chance to install the MaxxFan 7500K on a 2022 Grand Design Imagine here at our shop in Missouri. I have linked the video below if you want to take a look.
