Best RV Roof Vents 2021

BEST RV ROOF VENTS

Every RV is unique and has its own personality because you have the option of customizing it however you like. But every RV does have something in common: roof vents. Roof vents are not a luxury item, or even fun to shop for, but they are a necessity. Roof vents are also not something you want to have to replace very often - because, let's be real, who wants to climb up on top of the roof of their RV more than they have to? This is why I am going to cut to the chase and tell you what the best RV roof vents are, that way you can spend less time worrying about which vent to get, and more time enjoying your adventures.
Take Note:
  • The standard size for a roof vent opening is 14" x 14", so all of the options below will fit inside your existing standard roof opening.

Best RV Roof Vents With a Fan

MaxxAir MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent

MA00-07500K
This vent is for you if:This is everything you've ever dreamed of in a roof vent - figuratively of course, if you're dreaming of roof vents that's a bit weird. This MaxxAir roof vent has a 12V reversible fan, powered lift, remote control with an LCD screen, and your name on it. With a sleek, low-profile design when closed, and a whisper-like quiet operation, you'll forget it's even there (until the dead of summer when you start wondering why your sheets aren't soaked with sweat anymore). And don't even worry about closing it when it starts pouring outside. With an integrated rain shield, there's no need for additional vent covers, and the interior of your RV or trailer will stay as dry as your sense of humor. Plus, on exceptionally windy days, or while cruising down the highway with the lid open, the dual arms on this MaxxFan vent will give great stability, even in the windiest of conditions (especially when compared with our other competitors, which only feature single arms).I really don't think you realize how awesome this roof vent is; let me just give you more reasons to put this on your list. This vent features a unique fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that will last a long time and keep out dust, dirt, and moisture. And with a manual mode for the fan with 10 speed options, you have complete control over the airflow. But let's say you're feeling a tad lazy and don't feel like fiddling with it - just put it in auto mode and the fan will turn on and off based on your preset temperature. This vent is NOT for you if:There's really only one downside to this vent assembly, and that is price. This one's quite a bit pricier than any of the other options on our list today, so if you're wanting to save as much money as possible, keep scrolling.

Don't like the smoke-colored lid? This vent also comes in a white lid option if you'd like it to match your RV.

Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent

FV807350
This vent is for you if:This Fan-Tastic roof vent also features a 12V reversible fan, powered lift, and a digital remote to control the thermostat. However, there are quite a few differences between the Fan-Tastic Vent and the MaxxFan.First of all, this vent does have rain protection, but instead of being able to operate the fan when it's raining, this vent has a built-in rain sensor that will automatically close the lid and shut off the fan until the sensor is dry. This is a great feature to have as you don't have to worry about closing it yourself if the weatherman lied and it suddenly starts to downpour. This Fan-Tastic vent also features the same automatic and manual modes of operation to give you the ability to have control over every aspect of the airflow. This vent actually has more speeds than the MaxxFan, featuring 13 manual and automatic speeds, compared to MaxxFan's 10 manual speeds. This is a great feature if you are someone who's very picky about the thermostat and need to have it just right, so you don't let anyone else touch it (you know who you are). And did I mention Fan-Tastic vents are made in the USA?This vent is NOT for you if:Even though this vent has the automatic rain sensor, it's still not as convenient as the MaxxFan vent, since you are not able to use the Fan-Tastic Vent's fan during bad weather. The Fan-Tastic vent also doesn't have the same low-profile design as the MaxxFan, so if you are someone who likes not only top-of-the-line functions, but also a sleek look, I recommend the MaxxFan.

Ventline Ventadome Roof Vent

V2094SP-28
This vent is for you if:Being our most economical option, this Ventline Ventadome vent is not quite on the same level as the first two options. But if you are looking to save some money, and are okay with having to hand-crank your vent every time you'd like to open it, this option will be a good one for you. All Ventline vents are made in the USA, and this one comes with a 2-year warranty, so you can depend on their great overall quality. This manual lift roof vent also has a 12v fan, like the first two contenders on our list, so it will still circulate air more efficiently than a vent without. But to operate the fan, there is a switch mounted on the vent instead of a handheld remote. This Ventline Vent features the same pop-out bug screen as the first two options, making it easy and painless to remove and clean. This vent also features a translucent cover which will let some natural light into your RV. The Ventline Ventadome is a great option for you if you are simplistic and don't need the best of the best, or the fanciest vent out thereThis vent is NOT for you if:Even though this vent does have a 12v fan, it is a non-reversible, exhaust-only fan, which basically means that it will not pull in fresh air and exhaust hot air and moisture like a reversible fan. Vents with a non-reversible fan will only exhaust hot air and moisture, so not having that ability to pull in fresh air can make a huge difference if you're in a warm climate. Also, the fan blades on this Ventline Vent are smaller than the MaxxFan or the Fan-Tastic Vent, so it will not circulate air as quickly or efficiently. Another drawback is that this vent doesn't have any sort of rain sensor that tells it to close when it starts raining, so be sure to keep an eye on the forecast and close the lid as soon as you see a rain cloud. All in all, if you think you'll have trouble having to hand-crank the arm to open the lid everytime, and you like the convenience of a handheld remote, I recommend sticking with one of the first two options. Also, this vent does not include the screws or sealer kit, so if you have a rubber roof, use CAM25013 , and if you have a metal roof use CAM25003.

Best RV Roof Vents Without a Fan

Ventline E-Z Lift Ventadome Roof Vent

V3092-601-00
This vent is for you if:Roof vents without a fan are a great addition to any RV that just needs a bit of ventilation to help freshen up and prevent heat buildup inside your RV or enclosed trailer. This one in particular is much easier to use than your typical manual roof vent and I will tell you why. This Ventline E-Z Lift vent has a unique spring-loaded, easy-to-use handle, so you will have zero problems opening the vent lid when you need a little fresh air. This handle has no gears which means that it will be a much quicker and painless operation than a standard crank handle. This roof vent comes with a wedge-shaped translucent dome (or lid) which basically means it has a very aerodynamic design to help reduce wind noise and drag, which can be a big help in smaller RV's. And with a vinyl weather seal, you will not have to stress about water or moisture getting in.This vent is NOT for you if:Although this vent does have a weather-tight seal, still make sure you close the lid when it starts raining, as this one does not feature any sort of rain sensor. Also keep in mind that the interior trim piece (garnish) and installation kit with the necessary screws and sealant are sold separately.

Ventline Ventadome Metal Roof Vent

V2110SP-24
This vent is for you if:Live in an area that gets a lot of hail or wind? This Ventline Ventadome vent with a metal lid is perfect for you because it is the only one on our list that comes with a metal dome lid. This means no more cracking, flimsy lids that are only going to last you through the summer. And don't even think about rust because with a rust-resistant galvanized finish, this thing will hold up to any of mother nature's abuse. This vent is for those who need something simple and practical. Its standard crank handle requires zero thought, and you'll be getting fresh air in no time. If you're ok with doing a bit of hand cranking, not having a vent to circulate air, and no rain sensor, this will save you quite a bit of money. This vent is NOT for you if:As mentioned above, this vent will take more time than the E-Z Lift Vent to hand crank it up and down, so be prepared to have a sore arm. And although the garnish is included with this one, the installation kit is also sold separately.

You represent an exceptional company. If and only If you want to disturb your fine roof seal to your existing vent then the above minus cost are fine. An option is to put a very inexpensive cover over the std roof vent found on most RVs and that will keep the rain/snow out easily and the attachment is to the vent frame, not more pentretions of the roof. Want better air flow? One can purchase a retrofit fan system that replaces the existing tiny 12 volt motor and blade. Both can be acquired at prices that total far below the intial cost and the trouble of a roof installation. An alternative that I believe would enhance your analysis that makes your web reviews so valuable to so many of us..
