Today on our 2014 Chevy Sonic, well be installing the Curt Class I Hitch, part number C11240. This is what our hitch will look like once its installed. Next well go ahead and give you a couple of measurements to assist you in selecting accessories for your new hitch, such as a ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper is 3 inches. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 12-1/2 inches. Now well go ahead with the installation.

To begin our install, well first go ahead and point out the attachment points and access holes. These attachments points and access holes are pre-drilled holes in the frame by the manufacturer. To secure our hitch, well use a 7/16 carriage bolt and block and plunge nut. To get our hardware into the frame, well use a 7/16 pull large provided with our install kit. To begin the install of the hardware, well go ahead and take the bolt leader, fit it through the rear attachment point and out the access hole forward into frame. Then we can slide on our block, pushing it into the frame, and then thread the carriage bolt on to the end of the bolt leader.

Then well go ahead and push the carriage bolt up into the frame and pull it into position. Once we have it in place, well leave the bolt leader on as it will assist with getting our hitch into position without pushing our hardware back up into the frame. Now well go ahead and repeat the same process for our forward attachment point taking the bolt leader going through the attachment point and out the access hole. Well slide on the block and thread on the carriage bolt. Well fit them both into the frame, then we pull them into position. Now its passenger side done, well go ahead and repeat the same process in the driver side.

With all our hardware in place, were ready to go ahead and put our hitch in position. Well take the driver side and feed up over the exhaust and bring the passenger side up feeding the pull wire through the attachment points which will be the first and third pre-drilled holes of the hitch. Then well bring the hitch tight to the frame making sure our carriage bolts are all the way down through the hitch. Then we can go ahead and remove the pull wire and install the plunge nut. Now at the passenger side is secured, well go ahead move over to the driver side and repeat the same process making sure all of our hardware is finger tight. Next well go ahead and tighten down the fasteners.

Then well go ahead and torque to specifications as indicate in the instructions. With that, our install is complete and were ready to hit the road. That does it for the install of the Curt 1-1/4 inch receiver tube hitch, part number C11240, on our 2014 Chevy Sonic. .
