Replacing/Upgrading The Suspension On A 2007 Colorado Tandem Axle 5th Wheel With LRE Suspension

Question:

I have a 2007 Colorado 32’ 5th wheel I want to upgrade the suspension. I believe it has the LRE suspension with rubber shear springs. My research shows I should get the MR79ZR and the MR79UR shear springs. I would also like to replace the leaf springs with the e34SR 5 leaf When I measured leaf springs they were 26” center of hole to hole while on the trailer .there are 4 leafs on springs I’m not sure if these are the correct parts I should order any help would be appreciated Thank you

It sounds like you are definitely on the right track here. The # MR79ZR is indeed the correct suspension upgrade kit for your 2007 Colorado 5th wheel with LRE suspension. Moryde makes a fantastic suspension upgrade kit. The heavy duty shackles and wet bolts are highly durable and will last a very long time as long as you keep them properly greased. The shear spring # MR79UR is also correct for this setup.

The leaf springs might be a bit more tricky, since you are measuring them under a load. Leaf springs can extend up to 1" when flexed. So it certainly stands to reason that the # e34SR will be sized just right. In a perfect world, we would have you jack the trailer up and measure the spring without a load to get a more accurate measurement. That said, I believe it is safe to say that the # e34SR will fit nicely. This spring is a 5 leaf instead of a 4 leaf, but that will not be an issue at all. The spring will be 3/8" thicker, and it looks like your u-bolts will be plenty long to accommodate this. We do offer new u bolts # CE23003, if you would like to replace them while you're at it.
