Difference Between 5 Leaf and 4 Leaf Spring with Same Capacity

Question:

How can springs with 4 leaf be rated the same as a 5 leaf all things being equal? I am looking to replace my springs on my triple axle toy hauler. It has 5200# axles and has springs that where probable 25 1/8inch long when new since they are now 25 5/8. I am undecided as to order 4 or 5 leaves. Please advise as I would like to get the order done today. Thanks.

The only difference between a 4 leaf spring and a 5 leaf spring like the # e34SR is that the 4 leaf spring will use slightly thicker leaves and is 1/8 of an inch shorter. To get the best measurement of your existing springs, measure the center eye to center eye width with the trailer up on jack stands with the axles hanging free. Leaf springs should be replaced in pairs.
