What Can I Do To Make My Rhino-Rack RLT Legs Fit Aftermarket Roof Tracks

Question:

I have a 2019 Tacoma Dual Cab with a short bed and a new RSI Smart Cap, which came with built in rack tracks. I did not order their system as I prefer Rhino Rack, which I have on other vehicles. Unfortunately, I cant attach my RLT 600 base to the RSI track because the M6 channel nuts from RR are too big for the RSI track, which is only 14 mm wide the RSI came with 14 mm M8 nuts that fit well. The RR channel nuts are 21 mm at their narrowest dimension. I did try some M6 construction channel nuts 16.5 mm x 10.5 mm but these did not seat well under channel lip nor did a 13mm M6 flange nut. The overlap with channel lip was only 1 mm on either side gap between lips is 11.1 mm. What I need are 14 mm M6 channel nutsa species which I believe may not exist. Tried drilling out the base to fit M8 bolts, but that did not go well. So what do you think? Can you help me? Any custom channel nuts out there? Also, can you sell me a replacement base for the RLT 600? I will buy a set of 4 if I need to, but I only require 1. Thanks.

We do not have custom channel nuts. Unfortunately, our best option for you would be to remove the tracks on your RSI Smart Cap and just install the corresponding length Rhino-Rack tracks. I have included a weblink to our Rhino-Rack track options below. We do sell the replacement bases for your Rhino-Rack RLT600 legs in pairs. The Base Wedges for Rhino-Rack Quick Mount Legs - Qty 2 come in 10 mm, part # RRQMW10, and 5 mm, part # RRQMW05.
