Does the EcoHitch Hitch Receiver Require a Sports Strap on a 2014 VW Sedan?
Question:
Hello, My car is a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta 4 door sedan. I would like to know the difference between the draw-tite and the ecoHitch in regards to using the draw-tite for a non trailer application. I undertstand the draw tite does not require the use of a sport strap. My question is does the EcoHitch need the sport strap?

I would be happy to help answer your questions. The sports strap isn't required on 2" hitch receivers so some hitch manufacturer's offer it as an option. The Curt Support Strap # 18050 is required on Curt 1 1/4" hitch receivers. The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver item # 306-X7311 does not need the sports strap. The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver item # 306-X7311 has a 300 lbs tongue weight and the Curt Class l Trailer Hitch Receiver item # C11474 has a 200 lbs tongue weight. I recommend the EcoHitch hitch receiver because of the higher capacity for non trailer accessories.
