Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 27 Foot Travel Trailer with 6020 lb GVWR
Question:
Hello, I have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe 4.8L and just purchased a 1999 keystone Springdale 245 FBL. I would like to know what weight distribution hitch with sway control would be a good fit for my setup? And ID like to not break my bank!! 1999 Springdale GVWR 6020, UVW 3956, HITCH 520.

Because travel trailers are very susceptible to trailer sway caused by crosswinds and oncoming or passing traffic, I'd urge you to choose a weight distribution system with a decent sway control component.
Given the weights you mentioned, your fully loaded and ready to tow travel trailer could potentially have a tongue weight ranging from around 600-900 lbs. This is a pretty good educated guess, but it's not a bad idea to confirm that for yourself. I'll link to a help article that explains how to do this, but the easiest way would be to use a tongue weight/payload scale like the etrailer # e99044.
If your fully loaded and ready to tow tongue weight falls into the 600-900 lb range, I'd recommend a mid-priced option like the Fastway # FA94-00-1061 which combines weight distribution rated for 600-1000 lbs along with a sway control component that's very effective on mild to moderate trailer sway. The 2-5/16 inch trailer ball is included with the system.
The Curt # C17062 system you'd looked at is good for 800-1000 lbs of tongue weight, which is very likely too highly rated for your needs, which would lead to a rough ride. The friction sway control included is designed for mild sway only and wouldn't be the best choice for the approximate 27 foot length of your travel trailer.
