Curt or Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for 2012 Toyota Prius C to Use With Bike Rack

Question:

Hi. I have a 2012 Prius C and need a bike rack for my not yet here mountain bike its a fezzari Cascade Peak. Im thinking of getting the Thule Camber 2 bike rack mostly because of the increased spacing between the bikes and the swagman bike frame adapter bar. Im not sure the best hitch to buy...Is there a difference between the Curt Trailer and the Draw-Time Sportframe? Or do you recommend anything different? Thank you for your help!

That's a good question, and between the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11484 and the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24971 that fit your 2012 Toyota Prius C, the best option is definitely the Draw-Tite # 24971.

The reason the Draw-Tite is the best option is because it has better ground clearance and bumper clearance than the Curt hitch. That means more room for the bike rack away from the vehicle and more space from the ground to the rack to prevent it from potentially hitting the ground on a speed bump or steep driveway, for example. I have added a photo of the Draw-Tite on a Toyota Prius C for you to check out how it will look on yours.

In regards to the bike rack, you've made a great choice with the Thule Camber 2-Bike Rack # TH9058.

The wide, 7 inch spacing between the bikes is a great feature, especially with the very nice bike you have. The Camber also has premium anti-sway cradles that holds your bike at three points to ensure stability, and is easy to use with a lever that allows you to fold the arms down and tilt it forward. It comes with an anti-rattle pin but I do recommend adding a lock to help protect your investment, the Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device # THSTL2.

For your bike, since it has a frame that looks to be curved, you also correctly stated that you will need an adapter bar, the Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar # 64005.

I have added links below to video reviews for you to check out as well.
