Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2014 Toyota Prius C
Question:
I would like to tow with an aftermarket towing set up for my Prius C. What do you have and what is the towing capability of these hitches and the set up?

In the owners manual Toyota does not recommend towing a trailer with your 2014 Toyota Prius C, or even installing a hitch. However, if you choose to do so, I can recommend the parts you will need.
We offer two hitches for your 2014 Toyota Prius C, the Class I Curt Hitch # C11484 and the Class I Draw-Tite Hitch # 24889. Both have a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs GTW and 200 lbs TW. However, be sure to consult your owner's manual or contact your Toyota Dealer to see how much GTW and TW your Prius C can tow. Towing more than what your owner's manual recommends can damage your vehicle.
Out of these two hitches, I recommend the Draw-Tite Hitch over the Curt Hitch. This is because all Class I Curt Hitches require the use of stabilizing straps for all non-trailer loads (like bike racks) to stay within their warranty limits. The Draw-Tite Hitch uses an easy bolt-on installation, no drilling or welding is required to install this hitch on your vehicle. A pin and clip is included with this hitch which you will need when towing. I attached an installation video of this hitch on a 2014 Prius C you may want to check out.
To complete your towing set up you will also need a wiring harness, hitch ball and ball mount.
For a wiring harness I recommend the Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56275. This harness provides a 4-way flat trailer connecter at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. We have installed this wiring harness on a 2014 Prius C and I attached the installation video for you which you may find helpful.
For a ballmount, I recommend the Sportframe Ballmount # 3593. This ballmount is the recommended ball mount for your hitch and has a 2-1/8" Rise or 2-3/4" Drop. For a hitch ball I recommend the Tow Ready Hitch Ball with a 1-7/8" Diameter and Short Shank # 19256.
I also attached help articles on everything you need to tow a trailer and installing a trailer hitch which you may find helpful. I also attached a help article on how to clean the weld nuts you will use to install your trailer hitch for a smooth installation.
