Can I Safely Install the EcoHitch on a 2013 Toyota Prius c
Question:
I have called several local trailer hitch shops inquiring about getting a 2inch hitch attached to my 2013 Toyota Prius C. They have all said that its not possible or that there are safety concerns. Additionally they refused to install a 2inch hitch even if I purchased it myself. I do not plan on towing with this hitch but rather just installing a bike rack. Id prefer to get this professionally installed but it seems that all the professionals in my area have issue with a 2inch hitch on a Toyota Prius C. Are their concerns valid?

We've had several different years of models of the Prius where we've installed hitches like the EcoHitch # 306-X7194 and there are no safety concerns, especially when being used to a bike rack. For these reasons, I'm not really sure their concerns are valid and likely stem from the fact that this isn't a vehicle that would typically have a hitch installed on it.
With that said, the EcoHitch is what I would recommend since it provides you with a 2" hitch receiver and provides you with the largest selection and best capacity for carrying a bike rack. You might want to consider just installing this hitch yourself, so I've linked the installation video that we did of this hitch on a 2013 Toyota Prius c that I recommend checking out. This is a no-drill instruction, so it's relatively simple to complete.
If you don't already have the bike rack picked out and are looking for some recommendations, just let me know and I'm happy to help you find one that would work well for you.
