Trailer wiring

I have a 2020 Kia Sorento. If I use a 4 pin to 7 pin adapter, will the trailer battery be charged while I am drivingconnected

If you use an adapter like # 37185, and the black wire is extended and ran to the positive battery terminal through a # 9510 40A circuit breaker using # 10-1-1 wire, the battery on the trailer will receive a maintenance charge. However, due to the relatively small gauge of the wire and the distance between the battery and alternator an the trailer battery means that the system won't have the necessary power to charge a depleted battery. You'll still need a charger like # 329-GENIUS10 and shore power to completely charge a dead battery.
If your trailer has electric brakes, and you want them to actuate, you'll need to install a brake controller like the Curt Echo, part # C51180. The Echo would use your smartphone as the control panel for the controller. You'd also need the # ETBC7L installation kit, which includes the # 37185 adapter, the circuit breaker and wire mentioned above, as well as all the necessary hardware to complete the installation. You'll also need a 4 pole connector like what's provided by the # HM11143820 that you'd looked at.
