Weight Capacity of Dexter P-12 Model SLR Axle

Dexter P-12, model SLR , S# D5661787 Axle weight rating I have an axle with the above info on the tag. I cant seem to figure out exactly what the rating is on this axle, but guessing something like 2,500 - 3,500 lbs. Thx for any help you can provide.

I reached out to my contact at Dexter Axle who said that your axle is rated for 3,500 lbs and it uses inner bearing # L68149, outer bearing # L44649, and the grease seal # 58846. All of these can be found in the kit # BK2-100 if you are needing to replace your bearings and seals.

@TrevorW Your axle will have 7K brakes installed on it. We have a few replacement parts for that weight capacity but it's typically more cost-effective to purchase the whole assembly anyways. You can either let me know whether you have electric or hydraulic brakes and what part you need to replace, or you can use one of the following: - Electric Brakes # 23-464-465 - Hydraulic Brakes # AKFBBRK-7

I have a Dexter P12 SLR SN D1896631 axle on a Featherlite trailer, it is not a leaf spring suspension. I need either new axles or spindles, but it seems to me that the spindles are fixed, so new axles would be the way to go. What would the replacement part be?

@LesD we have at least one cracked spindle. The spindles are losing threads and generally worn. The trailer is a 99 featherlite 24 ft enclosed. We have started losing trailer wheels, hubs and the inner bearing, when the trailer is on the road very dangerous situation. we have checked alignment and all good.

@YushoM I reached out to my contact at Dexter Axle and found that the axle weight rating is 2500 pounds, and the bearing numbers are as follows. # L68149 inner bearing cone # L68111 inner bearing race # L44610 outer bearing race # L44649 outer bearing These can also be purchased in the # BK2-100 kit

Thanks for the info! I was able to obtain all the needed specs from Dexter with that serial number. For a full replacement hub assembly (with bearings included) you can use the 3,500 lb Dexter # 84546UC3-EZ will work perfectly. For brake assemblies I recommend the etrailer Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA.

@WillS I reached out to Dexter with your serial number and found that the axle you have is rated for 2,000lbs. The inner and outer bearing are both # L44649. The # BK1-150 bearing kit includes two of these bearings plus races, grease seal, and a new cotter pin.

I reached out to my contact at Dexter and with that serial number she was able to tell me that you have a 6,000 pound axle. It uses the # 15123 outer bearing and # 25580 inner bearing. For a full hub/drum replacement the Dexter # 42656 will work perfectly. Their records indicate it was equipped with hydraulic drum brakes so if this is still correct you can use part # bp04-164 for the Left Hand Shoe and part # bp04-162 for the Right Hand.

I reached out to my contact at Dexter and with the serial number you found was able to verify that the Bearing Kit # BK2-100 that Jon mentioned is also the right kit for you. The correct replacement hub/drum assembly is the Dexter # 84546UC3-EZ.

@JustinH I reached out to my contact at Dexter Axle and she said that the correct replacement brake kit for your application is part # 23-398-399. This includes both the left and the right brake assemblies.
