Troubleshooting No Signal on Yellow Wire for Hopkins # 42615 on a 2003 Jeep TJ

Question:

Got a 42615 harness for my 2003 TJ. It says connection is behind passenger tire. Could not find. Had my mechanic look and he found one behind driver tire. Hooked it up and it works except for the yellow driver side signal and flasher. It is well grounded. Used testlight and all the prongs work except for the yellow one.

Even though the plug was found on the driver's side it does sound like your mechanic found the correct plug for the Hopkins # 42615 on your 2003 Jeep TJ.

If the lights on your Jeep are working normally then that leads me to believe that the wiring harness is messed up somewhere. Try piercing the wiring harness at different points to see if the signal is lost somewhere. Typically this would be a ground issue but if your ground is secure and connected to a clean, bare-metal surface then the unit may just be bad.

This unit does have a 90-day warranty so you should be able to return it for a different one if the unit itself it bad.
