Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the rear tire mud flap on the passenger's side.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Plugs in very simply and does what it's supposed to do.

by:
1998 Jeep Wrangler

Thanks for the wiring harness, it was an easy install, plug and route the wiring to the trailer hitch. Sure beats cutting and splicing into the vehicle harness, chasing the wires for identification etc.! Simple instruction included with the location of the plugs to interface with. Best trailer hitch wiring I 've done in 20 years.

by:

Wow, I have never had a simpler installation! The quality is great, and in just plugs straight in. Finished the job with the Hopkins Fold Over Mount. Super happy with the final install.

I am an electrical contractor by trade so makings splices is not an issue. I am so glad I purchased this trailer wiring harness, unplug one plug and you are in business and did not have to tamper with the existing wiring harness of my jeep. I taped in a magnet to the wiring harness so when not in use I could Tuck it in behind the bumper.

‘98 Jeep Wrangler, absolutely plug and play, very simple installation. Pull down the cover behind the rear passenger tire, reach up inside the body to find the factory harness, unplug the connector and plug the new harness into it. Put the cover back over the opening. Did need a drill to run in the new grounding wire but they even supplied the self tapping screw for that. Great product!

by:

Very easy to install just connect to the taillight harness and attach the ground wire, 10 minute job. This harness will save you the time and aggravation of a splice in harness.

  • Trailer Wiring and Hitch Recommendation for a 1999 jeep Wrangler
Basically, there are 2 different ways on which you can install trailer wiring on a 1999 Jeep Wrangler. The Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118409, plugs in line with the wiring behind the vehicle tail lights. Installation may take a little longer than the other harness but these types of connections are popular and work well. I have included a link to the installation details and a video showing a typical installation for you. The Hopkins Harness, # 42615, plugs into a connector...

  • 2015 Jeep Cherokee Flat Towing Parts
To fix the wobble of a flat-towed 2015 Jeep Cherokee, you need part 68321424AB . That can only be obtained from your dealership. However, we do have the other parts needed to flat tow your Cherokee. We offer custom base plates to get started. We have part # e98952 if your model is Trailhawk and part # e98954 if it isn't. Either of these will connect to the tow bar, part # e34ZR, which have another necessary component (safety cables) included. I've linked to a video review of this tow...

  • Flat Towing Lights Recommendation for 2016 Jeep Wrangler Since Magnetic Cant be Used
The removable lighting solution to use on a 2016 Wrangler is the part # RM-2120 as this will install between the tailgate. The magnetic lights aren't a fit for your vehicle realistically since there isn't a place to attach them. A customer of ours used this kit on his 2015 Wrangler and here is how he said he was able to install the kit. I open the tailgate to first hang the passenger side light then close the tailgate which serves to lock the passenger light in place and allow enough of...

  • Is the Brake Light Relay Needed when Installing Invisi-Brake on a 2012 Jeep Wrangler
There are a lot of caveats for when the brake light relay # RM-88400 is needed or not needed. But we have taken the guess work out for you. The relay is required on the 2012 Jeep Wranglers. If you turn the key to the position it is supposed to be in for flat towing (consult the vehicle owner's manual) that is the position of the key you would use to test whether or not the brake lights come on.

  • Lighting and Wiring Options for Flat-Towing a Jeep Wrangler Behind a Motor Home
What you need is a light kit specifically for flat-towing. The Plug-N-Tow TM Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 42615, would be if the Jeep were towing a trailer and not for activating its lights while it is being towed. There are a few options for lighting when flat-towing a vehicle. I have included an FAQ article that covers the various options. What it boils down to is how often you will be towing the Jeep behind the motor home. If you do not plan on towing it very often, the best way to go...

  • Will a Flat-Tow Wiring Harness for a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Work With Trailer Tow Harness
In order to activate the tail lights on a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited from the motorhome you will need a flat-tow wiring harness, the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit part # RM-15267 is our best and most popular option for this. It does require splicing but that is the only option available. It would work just fine with an existing trailer tow wiring harness. • Is the Mopar Recreational Flat Tow Wiring Kit Needed to Stop Wobble on a 2021 Cherokee?
From what I could find out, the Mopar Recreational Flat Tow Wiring Kit will not be needed for a 2020 or 2021 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. This was only a requirement on a 2014 to 2018 as the issue this was designed to combat has since been rectified. If you have not completed your flat tow set up as of yet, the following will be some recommendations to get you on the road. One of the huge pluses with having a Jeep is they are one of the most common vehicles to flat tow. With that being said,...

  • What Circuit of the Roadmaster RM-155 Does the Brown Wire Run to
The issue is the way you wired up the brown wire. This needs to run to the running light circuit of your vehicle. This is the circuit that activates the dimmer illumination of the trailer lights you have on your vehicle. It would not run to both the brake and turn signal circuit like you mentioned. I attached a link to an install video for the # RM-155 being installed on a similar Liberty as yours.

Since you have no wiring on yoru 2002 TJ we can get you everything you need. First you will need to install a 4-way wirinig harness. I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 118409. It sounds like you have a ground problem on the trailer. I'd start by checking the ground wire at the trailer coupler and making sure it is connected to a solid clean paint free spot on the coupler or frame. Then I would check the tail light assemblies. Tail lights are usually grounded through their connection to the trailer frame. If you have a plastic license plate bracket on the left side this could be the culprit. You should also check the brackets that hold the lights. If they are...
