Changing a Trailer From Electric Drum Brakes to Hydraulic Disc Brakes

Question:

I bought a braking axle from etrailer last year, and it works. But I am getting interested in changing over to disc brakes. Is there anyway to look up my axle I bought last year to see which disc brake kit matches everything? All I know is that it is a 3500lb axle with e-brakes.

The axle you purchased from us before is part # 35545E-ST-89. It uses inner bearing # L68149 and outer bearing # L44649.

Since you already have electric drum brakes all you need to convert your trailer to disc is the brakes, brake lines, and an actuator. You didn't say whether you want hydraulic or electric over hydraulic brakes. The only difference in parts is which actuator you choose. If you want hydraulic surge brakes I recommend part # T4745720 as long as you have a 1-7/8 or 2 inch hitch ball. It has the electric lockout so you can reverse without the brakes engaging. If instead you want an electric over hyraulic system use the HydraStar # HBA16.

Whichever type you go with, hydraulic or electric over hydraulic, I recommend the Titan brake kit # T2HRCM10DAC, which fits your same bearings, along with brake line kit # HS496-151.

I've linked videos on each product for you; as well as a couple of help articles on adding disc brakes to a trailer.
