Can Roller Bunks be Used on a Boat Ramp Using 2 x 6 Boards

Question:

I’m looking to use these for a shore ramp to pull my boat out onto the bank. I would like to use 2x6” boards mounted vertically as the boat is a modified V.. How would I mount these rollers to the 2” 1.5” side of the board and would they be stable enough to pull a 1500 lb boat onto it?

There are mounting holes in the bases of the Dutton-Lainson Boat Trailer Deluxe Roller Bunks # DL21741. You would need to use corrosion resistant hardware obtained locally and attach the bunks directly to the short ends of the boards.

But there is a better option, # DL21755. These were designed to fit on the short "2" inch side of a 2 x 4, or in this case a 2 x 6. The mounting holes are on the sides of the bases. The bases will essentially fit around the short side and the hardware will bolt through the wood and the bunk bases. This will be much more stable than using the other style of bunks.

Each set of the bunks is rated for a total of 3,000 pounds so they can handle the 1,500 boat, no problem. If you use bunks # DL21755 it will be as stable as the boards they are mounted to.
