Want To Convert Hub And Drum Assembly From 5 On 4-1/2 Inch Bolt Pattern To 6 On 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern

Question:

Hello, I currently have a 2015 Jayco SLX 195RB Baja trailer with 5 lug 4.5 inch bolt pattern wheels. I want to know if its possible to change the drum hub assembly to a 6 lug drum/hub so I can run 16 inch wheels and increase my tire options. Thanks

Yes, it is possible.

You will need to use a hub and drum assembly that works with the 3,500-lb axle on your 2015 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 195RB Travel Trailer. To get the right fit, you need to match up everything to your bearings sizes which are stamped on them. If you can not find your sizes, you can measure your bearings with a digital caliper like Item # PTW80157 ("how to" video attached if you need it). Common sizes for 3,500-lb axles are inner bearings like Item # L68149 and outer bearings like Item # L44649.

If these are your bearings, then hub and drum assemblies that match with a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern are:

1. Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly, Item # AKHD-655-35-K. This assembly works with electric and hydraulic brake assemblies and comes with bearings, races, grease seal, grease cap, and lug nuts.

2. Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly, Item  # AKHD-655-35-EZ-K. This assembly fits E-Z Lube axles, is compatible with electric and hydraulic drum brakes, and comes with bearings, races, grease seal, grease cap, and lug nuts.

If these do not work for you, send me your bearings sizes and I will make a correct recommendation.

I also tried to find out what size tires might be on your Jayco SLX currently to recommend some tire and wheel combinations but there are several possibilities. A tire and wheel combination to consider that is 16 inches is the Provider ST235/80R16 with Silver Mod Wheel, Item # TA59VR. I have also attached a link to our tire and wheel combination selections.

Before making this change, you will need to make sure you have 4-6 inches of clearance between your wheels and all trailer components including the fender.

Contact me if you have any other questions and I am attaching FAQ articles and videos that can help with your project.
