I checked with Carolina Skiff and they were able to give me the trailer specifications for the size 1655 DLX. They recommend that you use 2" x 6" wood, carpet-covered bunks that are 10' 6" long spaced 40" apart when measuring from the outside edge of the bunks. They also require that the front end of the bottom bunk extend past the flat bottom of the boat. If you'd like to stick with the wooden bunks they recommend, we do sell the marine grade carpeting in the 18" width, # CE11349.

If you choose to convert your trailer to roller bunks, you will want to keep the bunk length and distance the same. So, if you have no existing trailer, you will need quantity 4 of the 5 foot long bunks and a spare 4 foot long bunk to cut into pieces to extend both sides by at least another 6 inches. If you have an existing trailer with wood bunks, you will start by taking good measurements of the existing bunks, including their height from the trailer frame so that you can replicate this with the roller bunks. You will remove the bunk boards and brackets, saving the U-bolts if they are in good condition.

I've provided links to the roller bunks that we offer for your convenience. I've also attached a video showing one of our installers changing a trailer from board bunks to rollers. You will utilize Roller Bunk Brackets # DL21742 with the Deluxe Roller Bunks, # DL21740 & # DL21741. Or, you will use bracket # DL21762 with the Standard Roller Bunks, # DL21754 or # DL21755.

You will place the roller bunks in the same location as your board bunks, measuring to make sure that you are replicating the original setup. When installing the brackets, you can reuse the old u-bolts, if they are still in good condition, or replace them with CE Smith's Zinc-Plated Steel U-bolts # CE15252A.

Attach the roller bunks to the brackets using 1/2" bolts like # CE11089 and a nylon lock nuts like # CE10812.
