Troubleshooting Flashing PL Code on Trailer Brake Controller
Question:
Getting a flashing code PL
asked by: Tom
Helpful Expert Reply:
The flashing PL code on a trailer brake controller, such as the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885, indicates a power interruption while the brake pedal is depressed. This basically means that when you apply the brakes in your vehicle, the voltage for some reason is not getting back to the trailer brakes.
This can be caused by a few things. I recommend first checking the brake controller wiring and all of its connections to the vehicle. Make sure the red wire is attached to the brake switch wire that only has power when the brake pedal is pressed. Look for any corrosion or breaks in the wiring leading back to the trailer connector and simply fix as needed.
You will want to do the same thing on the trailer side, checking the wiring and connector for any corrosion or damaged areas. Also make sure all your ground connections are made to clean, bare metal surfaces free of any debris.
If you are unable to resolve the issue, please let me know and I will be happy to look into this further.
