How to Determine What Size Boat that a Winch Can Pull
Question:
what size boat can this winch pull

Expert Reply:
The Fulton High-Performance 2-Speed Trailer Winch with Handbrake # F142430 that you referenced has a 3,700 lbs weight capacity. The size and weight of the boat that it can pull really depends on what your boat trailer setup is like.
A boat to winch size capacity is typically 2 to 1 which means that this particular winch should typically be able to pull a 7,000 lb boat. If you have good rollers and a short distance to pull then that could make the ratio 3 to 1. If you have wooden bunks and a long distance that could make the ratio 1 to 1. There are a few different factors that play into this as well. I have attached a helpful article that goes into a little bit more details for you to check out.
Keep in mind that this winch can only be used with a cable. You can use the Fulton Galvanized Winch Cable with Hook # FWC7500100 as well as the Winch Wire Rope Keeper # F501001 to complete your setup.
