Winch Recommendation For A 6,800 Pound Boat

Question:

I have a 24foot Chaparral Signature boat, dry it is 6800. I trailer it on my EZ loader trailer 2-4 times a year. Pretty mild incline on the ramp. Carpeted wood bunks. I had been hand cranking it using via the electric winch which is non-functional. The handle went on it rounded out. So I am wondering if I can replace with a better hand winch and what size? IF electric what size? I dont want to spend a lot of $$$ as I launch and pickup 2-4 times a year as the boat is left in the water.

For a boat that weighs 6,800 pounds you would need a winch that has a capacity of at least 3,400 pounds. The Fulton High-Performance 2-Speed Trailer Winch with Handbrake - Cable Only - Zinc - 3,700 pounds # F142430 will work. This is a 2 speed hand winch. The fast speed lets you pull in quickly, while the lower speed offers an increased mechanical advantage. It has a capacity of 3,700 pounds. This winch can use a cable only like The Fulton Galvanized Winch Cable with Hook - 50 foot x 7/32 inch - 5,600 pounds # FWC7500100 which is sold separately.

If you wanted to go to an electrical winch The ComeUp DV-4500si Trailer Winch - Synthetic Rope - Roller Fairlead - 4,500 pounds # CU644501 would work. This has a 12-volt DC motor, the power draw is 25 amps and has a line speed of 21.3 FPM. The line pull is 4,500 pounds. It is made of all-steel, 3-stage planetary gear train. It has a hand-held remote with a 10 foot lead which lets you control the winch from a safe distance.

I have attached a review video link below.
