The Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5GX1216 referenced in your question is not recommended for use with the factory-installed towing prep packages from Ford because of the plastic lever that is located on top of the hitch ball in your truck bed. This is the tab that is used to install and remove the hitch ball. The Convert-A-Ball Adapter has a nut inside the unit that will cause damage to the plastic tab over time, so they simply are not compatible.
I instead recommend looking at the Andersen Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3139. This can be used with your factory gooseneck ball and will also provide 8 inches of offset.
I have attached a demonstration video on this product for you to check out.
