Fifth Wheel Hitch and Under-Bed Rails Recommended for 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab

I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab Diesel 4X4. I want to install an under body 5th Wheel Hitch. What do you recommend?

For a system that uses underbody rails for your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab, I recommend the Reese Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit # RP30074.
Typically, with a 6 foot bed, you would want to use a sliding fifth wheel hitch in order to complete a 90 degree turn. The sliding fifth wheel hitch that is compatible with the underbody # RP30074 is the Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider # RP30144. However, we have found that often a sliding 5th wheel hitch does not provide enough clearance on Dodge/Ram 6 foot beds to complete a 90 degree turn. If completing that sharp of a turn is not a concern for you, the # RP30144 sliding hitch will work well for you.
If you are concerned about completing 90 degree turns, I recommend using the Reese M5 Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30921 with a sidewinder pin box. This fixed hitch with a sidewinder will allow you the additional clearance needed to perform a 90 degree turn.
