What Keeps the Curt X-5 Adapter from Turning in the Truck Bed

Question:

Hi, I understand how the curt x5 installs and so on. What stops the entire unit, meaning the rails, from turning in the truck bed? Does just the weight of the hitch and 5th wheel prevent it from swiveling? And is it really considered safe, versus having the rails attached in a traditional way with bolts to the truck frame?

Expert Reply:

The pin weight of the trailer combined with the square shank the X-5 adapter, # 16310, uses to attach to the B&W gooseneck hitch allows the adapter to stay in place. The adapter is safe and secure although not as much so as having a 5th wheel hitch and install kit bolted directly to the truck frame.
